i'm having some issues with your competition and curious if your mounts keep the motor in roughly the same place so i can keep moving with the build and come back to explore options with your headers when they come out

thanks,

Sure, I'll take the measurement for you in the morning off of our shop Monte Carlo SS project car.

In order to give you relative data, I took the measurements from the front of the crossmember on our Monte to the front edge of the oil pan and the front edge of the engine cover also...we are using a truck set-up, so the balancer measurement would not be relative what you have. Your measurements lead be to think you are using the BRP set-up since your engine is so much further forward and higher than what is obtained with using the new Hooker parts. If that is the case, I can tell you that the new Hooker headers will definitely not work with your engine where it sits.
Here's your photo that I marked up with the measurements that are present in our Monte.

I don't yet have an exact date, but the first production run is in process at the supplier and the documentation required to release them into our system as an actual part number is getting close to being done. I will be sure to post that information once I know anything concrete.

Without a doubt before Christmas. The engine brackets have been released, the first run of the crossmembers is in process and I'll be delivering the header build fixtures to our production facility next week. In related news, I finished the prototyping of the matching exhaust system for this swap set-up last week, so all the design work is now done for this application.

I'm glad to hear it and I'm sure he'll enjoy the level of engineering and quality that went into the design of these components.

You should start one of these threads gbodyforum.com. There's a steady supply of people asking question about swap parts seemingly everyday.

I know that is a popular site with the G-body crowd and wish I had more time in my schedule to add another forum to the list of those I post at. The truth of the matter is that I can barely keep up with the posting and PM responses that I make on the half dozen sites I currently frequent. I'm hoping that members here will carry over the information there and spread the word...or I will let someone else here at Holley sign up and start posting some info.

Glad to hear you got your mounts in hand. The Hooker bracket kit does not include the clamshells, so I'm not sure of the reasoning behind Summit's inclusion of them in their description. I recommend that you source and use the aftermarket poly inserts with the clamshells if you are planning a combination that is going to be producing more than what a stock 5.3 puts out since allof the clamshells I've seen lately come from China and they just don't seem to last like the OE GM parts of the past.

Now that the mild steel headers are out, when might we expect the stainless versions to be released?

Any chance of a 2" primary/3.5" collector version being made for the large cubic inch
crowd?

Hey Dave. I see that Summit has the mild steel headers listed on their website, but they are not yet available for shipment. It's going to take a few more weeks before that happens and the stainless versions will follow a couple of weeks after that...I suspect that by the end of November that all the versions will be available. It's not possible to produce a 2" version of the headers in the same bend geometry configuration as the extra 1/4" of clearance to do that is not there to give; 3.5" collectors would also have interference with the floor on the driver side of the car since the 3" collectors are so close already. We always have our ears open, so if there is enough requests for such a header we would certainly be willing to revisit the application.

does any one sell a poly clam shell? it would be nice to order 1 set of mounts instead of buying clam shells and putting poly inserts in them

Not that I've seen, but It certainly would be nice if someone would step up to the plate and make that happen.
