95 Impala motor mount/oil pan issue Im helping put a L92 in a 95 Impala. We are using the dirty dingo mounts in the link below. The engine is so low that the front of the oil pan is laying on the k member. Dirty dingo says a different pan may be needed. Need to hear from someone who has done this and what pan they used. Please help, thanks http://dirtydingo.com/store/product_...s_id=1323mpala. |
Are you using the pan that came with the motor? The truck pan won't fit many applications except maybe some trucks. As far as I know, everyone swaps the pan for something shallower. |
yes still have the truck pan on it. Is a fbody pan shallower in the front? I know the back is obviously different but not sure on the front half |
Yes the front of the f-body pan is shorter..........truck pan is 2 3/8 and the f-body is 1 3/8.. |
you also have the GMPP (Hummer) pan, and the Holley LS pan to pick from. Holley is the most popular but very expensive. I have the Hummer pan and I had to raise my engine some to be sure it would have clearance....however most people don't have this issue |
You need to do some research to complete or even start a swap.. else you run into issue like this and it can be more costly to 2nd guess yourself and blindly just do a swap.. Suggest you research the Oil Pan FAQ/Sticky and get the measurement and go forward then.. https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...-oil-pans.html I Suggest a F-Body pan if that clears or just go to a Swap pan like the Holley 302 pans (-1 or -2). And avoid any clearance issue below. BC |
1 Attachment(s) Im using these mounts.... http://kds-performance.com/services/ Was able to use the fbody oil pan and stock 96 transmission in the stock location, which meant no crossmember and driveshaft changes or mods... http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...87CA90C9BB.jpg http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...2A254D705F.jpg http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...23ED25F016.jpg |
