stock gauges with 5.3 swap
I have my 74 c10 with a 5.3 swap. I want to get the stock temp and oil pressure gauges to work. Only the fuel gauge works...I plan on getting a CableX unit to get the speedo to work. What do I do to get the oil and temp gauges to work? I just want to keep the stock look. Would be cool to get the amp gauge to work too

oil pressure switch can go in behind intake on Ls with adaptor on ebay. Or you can drill & tap the 2 bolt cap piece on driver side of oil pan. 1/8 inch pipe thread. On my temp sender I drilled water pump below upper hose area & tap the hole. Also drilled/tap a hole for fitting to put steam hose to throttle body. If you get a guage cluster from 90-91 blazer/suburban you wont need the box for speedo. Run pcm wire to speedo and will need to rearrange wire plug on back. Some wires from Gm been changed locations.

I don't have a pic of it. Its a cap cover with 2 bolts holding it on oil pan. Driver side by oil filter. Take it off it has a hole opening. Drill hole cavity to open oil flow with small bit. Use 1/8 pipe tap thread into it. Use little tape or liquid fitting sealer on sender screw it in. You be fine. Other wise you can buy adapter fitting to put up in stock location behind intake. Available on ebay is where I found them

If you're going to be drilling, I would break the plastic part off the old oil sender and tap that. Your original oil pressure line will work that way, probably be too short to reach the bypass. Here's some pics of how I did mine. (scroll down a bit) https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...l#post16774255
