Yawn.Another 5.3 Jeep Swap...
Not only have I been lazy all year getting this thing done, been pretty lazy about uploading pics too.Just another Wrangler/TJ 5.3 4L60E swap,as usual I try to do these things with the cheapest parts I can find and scrounging whatever possible from the scrap pile, craigslist and hacking, gouging and welding up whatever it takes...
Yay! 1998 Jeep TJ (Wrangler) picked up for $900 with a seized 2.5 4 cylinder automatic, didn't feel like making the 3.5 hour round trip to get my trailer and return,so rented a U-Haul trailer.Sold the cracked hardtop with the bubbaized acrylic back window for $150,the 2.5/auto for another $100,wheels and tires for another $100.I was originally going to swap a 4.3/4L60E from a low mile but paperless 2005 Blazer I had,but remembered how gutless those V6's could be,and after all,the LS really isn't that much more effort.
Isn't that little 4 banger cute? Uuughh, out it must go.
2005 5.3 and 4L60E,bought it of a logger who rolled his Sierra, but stashed away the drivetrain, harness and accessories for $1100,expensive for those south of the border, but a fair price on an island in the Pacific Ocean.

Grab some scrap out of the pile and butcher out some frame mounts, also cut up some plate to adapt old solid sbc mounts from a race car long gone to the LS pattern.
Front half of a GM 231 case mated to a Jeep 231 back half along with a Terraflex SYE kit, ain't never had a transfer case apart before, what's the worse that can happen?
Dirty, crusty mock up 5.3 I have laying around, will open it up one day to see if it is usuable.

Wonderful world of wireless? Not around one of these things, just ignore that 6.0 sitting in the 53 GMC in the background, next month's project...
Needed a break from futzing around with stupid wires, time to fab up some fenders.
These things work great as a bar, wonder how they will do on the trail?
Found some cute little LED's for run/turn indicators and side markers, now back to the archives to load up pics of things swappers really want to see.

Sheet metal panel for guages, keeping it cheap and simple with water, fuel and speedo, idiot lights for oil pressure, turn signals,hi-beam and MIL.
Used a S10 Blazer PCM mount from a 2005 I had laying around, some trimming and a simple metal bracket puts it between the washer reservoir and master cylinder,TAC module is bolted to the tray under the M/C.
T-stat housing from 3.8 Windstar, cut down hose from parts store, cheapo fleabay YJ radiator from the scratch and dent bargain pile.
Too cheap to buy a L99 water pump,so cobbled up some hoses from the parts pile, discount bin K&N marine filter just squeezes in.
A bit of tidying up on some of the details still to come but pretty much how it will turn out.
