Dyno Results LS3 68 GTO Clone I got my car dyno tuned a few months ago and decided to post the results here. The car build is over at Performance years but that site has turned into a bunch of haters. If it doesn't have a Pontiac engine they don't want to hear about it. I figure the results would be appreciated here. The engine is a 2008 GM LS3 crate, 430HP, 2006 GTO MAF, Eledbrock LS swap headers (no longer made), Pypes 2-1/2 exhaust, x crossover, Dynomax 17749 Super Turbo Mufflers, no resonators. 4L70E with stock 2006 GTO torque converter (about 2400 RPM) https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...17861563cb.jpg Some photos of the Car https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...760fc5344d.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...098ec87ee4.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...a1a3c2bebc.jpg |
Thanks for posting here! I am andrewb70 on the Pontiac forum and you are right, all they want to talk about is the Pontiac engine...blah..blah...blah... You did an amazing job with this car and you should be proud. Here is the build: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=584076 I would love to hear what it sounds like with the Super Turbo mufflers! Andrew |
Man, THAT is one CLEAN Poncho! And the LS engine makes it RIGHT! And I love the color! |
Dang that thing looks nice! I feel ya on the "it's not a Pontiac motor" thing. Even though they put them into the later gtos. Still hear " oh those weren't real gtos" oh well. Beautiful car man, if mine turns out half as nice i'll be happy. |
Nice car and good job on the ls swap. |
10% drivetrain loss over crank HP, Outstanding! Nice car too BTW. |
I did a first and last page scan of your build (during a short lunch break) Beautiful job on your car. Well done sir! |
Very nice. I'm a Pontiac guy but also a LS guy. It's a great combo the LS3 and the 4L70E. If you want a little bit more off the line a 3200 stall converter from Yank or Circle will not hurt anything on the cruising side. Also a bit bigger cam like maybe 230I/235E would most likely bump the RWHP past 400-410 with no loss of driveability. Again nice car. |
I would have NO objection to owning a car like this one! So CLEAN! |
Thanks for all the kind comments. One thing I forget to mention, the ECM is a E67 and not a E38 as you might expect for a corvette engine. I wanted cruise control and at the time, the E67 was the only solution. This did make thing harder since the engine never ran right until I got it dyno tuned. If you want a little bit more off the line a 3200 stall converter from Yank or Circle will not hurt anything on the cruising side. I would love to hear what it sounds like with the Super Turbo mufflers! Avi Video 1 AVI Video 2 At about 1:25 into this video you can see the minivan start to pull ahead of me and I gave it some more gas and got bad wheel spin. (32% throttle, I was data logging) 10% drivetrain loss over crank HP, Outstanding! Nice car too BTW. |
How's the gas mileage? |
Don't really know. Only about 200 miles on it since it was tuned split between two tanks of gas. Before it was tuned, I managed to go 210 miles (mostly highway) on half a tank. That would make it about 21 MPG. I do know that half a tank on the gauge is really half a tank. I checked the calibration. It should get better mileage now, since before the car was running really rich before the tune. |
Love your ride dude! Very nice build! |

If there is something I am missing I would like to know. I am about to start a LS3/4L70E into a 77 Cadillac. I still have the 3000 stall converter sitting around and while I would love to use it instead of buying a new converter, I don't want the same problem will stall I had in the GTO. Put a nice drag radial on there and it won't be a issue. Plenty of guys running bigger stalls without issue when running a radial. I run a 4400 stall with a Hoosier Dr2 radial and spinning is a non issue. The Nt05r or Mt Et ss will also solve your problem. Hoosier Dr2 https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...2875db92eb.png |
nice ride!!! |

Thanks for all the kind comments . To say the least! Cool car, and the color is RIGHT! He should be able to manage at least 24 mph cruising at a steady 70 MPH. I base this off the mileage I get with my cam'ed LS3 1995 Impala SS. KW |
They must have been saving that color for guys like us with exceptionally great taste.... |
