Not really any actual rust, just needs lots of wheel and paint time.
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...115b69bb78.jpg
Started chopping away at all that sound deadening and insulation.

Bare bones now. All body panels are sitting in my basement hah.

After hours with the wheel, hammer and chisel. Got some primer and paint on it.

Along with some SN V8 spindles that I need to clean up and re paint.

Is it even a race car if it doesn't have some DA Stranges?

Most likely looking at an iron block with a s475ish family turbo on a 29.5" tire.

Did you do a search on teamz Ls k-member ? What transmission ?

Why is there a problem with them?

I did. It is going to be a glide or a 400. I can't decide still, keep going back on forth with my trans and rears.

Picked this little iron block up for a couple hundred bucks. It spun over by hand, so that's a good start?

Doesn't look too bad at all. Just needs some serious cleaning. But it should get the job done.

Cut out that torn up lower radiator support, most likely the whole front from the shock towers forward is coming off. Got the trunk floor out of the way to be able to start framing out for the cell and battery before putting the new floor down. And the minitub project has began. Got plenty of work to do on that though.

If you run into any of those issues using the combination of the Team Z K-member with their engine mounting brackets, you can resolve them by using the Hooker Blackheart LS engine mounting brackets specifically made for that K-member.

Just because the crank spins over don't mean that it don't have a spun rod or main bearing.......I use to take apart bad warranty Ls motors.....I was surprised at all the spun bearings and how easy the crank spun..

Yes, that's why it is currently apart.

Did ya do a search on the teamz Ls k member before suggesting a search on the teamz Ls k member to verfify what you think you read?

Sorry man, but that is just funny and I could resist being a smartA$$ :)

Listen to Boo Boo37, he’s the Mustang LS oil pan police, he’ll tell you what you can and cannot use.

Car will be either a glide or 400, and on a turbo setup.

Thinking bout ordering some caster/camber plates and some A-Arms this week, get the front of this car on the ground finally. Any input on A Arms? Mostly adjustable vs non and stock length or narrowed. I really think I need the adjustables, mainly for the heim joints. But I keep going back and forth between stock length and 1" shorter.

Great progress~

ThickkSarge Apr 13, 2019 10:23 AM

Think I want to clean up this motor and start getting the heads back on soon at least. May do some ebay head studs and LS9 head gaskets. Gotta figure out a pan.

FowlerMotorsports Apr 13, 2019 12:00 PM

No better way to go than with a F-Body oil pan. I was going to try to shorten my truck pan but was going to lose about 1.5-2 quarts of oil doing so. I just picked up a pan myself from a member here so I can get my engine installed in my 84 Mustang GT.

HILROD Apr 14, 2019 11:57 AM

I shortened a truck pan. I had a Holley pan to measure when I did it so it would hold the same amount of oil as long as you re marked the dipstick. The tray inside the pan is nearly in the same place in both pans. I ended up having to get the newest style Holley pan as I am using a stock subframe and truck front drive.
