4th gen LT's in a 1st gen?
 
How much modification would have to be done to a set of headers for a 4th gen like say, pacesetter to fit in a 69 camaro with an ls1? I have heard there are some headers that almost fit; just wondering if anyone could point me in there direction.

Stainlessworks and Year One both carry long tube headers that will fit a first gen with an LS1.

Yeah I have seen those but they only fit if you have a rack and pinion set up.

Exactly. I'm going to have to have a set made to fit the rear steer set-up. I've heard you get a better feel for the car, so that's why I went that route. There is still plenty of room for the diameter pipe that I need.

When you say your gonna have a set made are you going to have a set fabed up from scratch or have stainless make you a modifed set. I checked with some of the speed shops around here and the cheapest I could get a set made was $2000 :eek2:. Little to much for some pipes I think. Just seeing if I could get some cheaper

i'll have a set fabbed up. i have a race shop here in town that helped me with my Hot Rods To Hell truck-arm kit. I thought about buying a pre-made set and tweaking them, but they tell me it will be just as much work to do it that way vs. doing it from scratch. They build alot of chassis and exhaust set-ups for 10" tire drag cars and the main fabricator used to work for Bill Davis racing in the Nextel Cup circuit. Stainless steel (the steel itself, not the company) is very expensive and is normally used for turbo-charged applications.

Well I bit the bullet and bought a set of pace setters not coated race headers for 300 bucks shipped. I know I'm gonna have to cut 1 tube problie 2 I'll take pics and post the results when I there in.
