Default LS1 Cobra hybrid?

Just because it's so easy for 03+ cobra guys to turn out ridiculous numbers someone should get an 03 cobra and put a forged LS1 in it with a pullied eaton or possibly a KB? The look on the ford guys faces would be priceless.

The only way I'd be able to do it is if I hit the lotto. But I know some of you "high ballin" engineers could do it. If one were so inclined.

We should all team up and harass Unit until he does it.

or you could just throw a magna charger ontop of a stock ls1 and say this is how our cars come stock now! then do a head/cam combo and then get a smaller pulley. i mean why not, lol thats all they do. those cars would be so slow without the charger . i never understood why ford doesnt really make a very powerful n/a motor?!? does anybody else?

Let me rephrase my original post. Someone needs to get an 03/04 cobra and then put a blown LS7 into it. Unit where you at?

actually, that would make a sweet swap, for ease of install, use all of the cobra electronics, and adapt the ford computer to control it.

the 2003/4 cobras have some trick things about them, such as the ability to change fuel pressure through the computer.

Exactly what is the highest RWHP figure ever laid down by a stock long block LS1? I know it's in the low 900s for stock longblock Cobras. This isn't ammo for a flame war either.. I'm genuinely curious.

so you would end up with a car that has a motor making less hp unless you add a aftermarket blower..

and it would be in a car that weighs so much that you need the more power, just to keep up with the Fbods...

a better idea would be to get a lighter mustang, like a foxbody, and swap the LS1 in that. then you would have your lightweight ford, and your GM motor.

You guys have your thinking backwards. Put the COBRA engine in a camaro and then you might have a project. Granted you would never pop the hood for anyone but you would have a fast *** car. Better yet put it in a RX7!!

Hmm, I dont think it would fit. I dont recall the exact dimensions, but aren't those things pretty darn wide due to the dohc heads. And with the blower on top I dont think it would fit under the cowl. Its not like we have a ton of room under that hood to work with. Hey, it would be funny to Finally see a Ford engine under a Chevy hood. Right now it seems alittle biased the other way though . Oh well, funny thought though.
