we use 4 speed t-10's on oval track cars with no problems. we just omit the upper rh bellhousing bolt. we've used the exact same bellhousing we were using on a conventional sbc.

no issues with pilot bearing depth, if i am correct in my numbers, i beleive the LS-1 crank sticks out of the block .400" further than a SBC.

no pilot bearing problems. we had to change the shims in the throw-out bearing(quartermaster style), but other than that nothing had to be changed.

I think you`ll find the LS1 crank is inset 1/4", ie - it sits closer to the block than a 350ci Chevy. in most cases the input shaft of an "older" gearbox will not sufficiently engage the pilot bearing. Fit an extended pilot bearing available from GM parts etc to allow it to "reach" the input shaft or make a longer standard bush.

i know im like a total pain in ur ***, but i was wondering on the LS-1/T10 race cars, what clutch components are you using? all LS-1? or a combo of LS-1 and SBC? any premature failures with the quartermaster HTOB? I have never had any luck with those lasting for any length of time. do you think that a clutch fork, throw out bearing and external slave or even manual clutch could operate with the LS-1 pressure plate? sorry to be a pain, im weighing my options here...

we're using a quartermaster 5.5" clutch with a quartermaster hydraulic throwout bearing along with a quatermaster reverse mount bell housing. these are all items we used with our sbc except we swapped out the sbc 5.5" flywheel with a ls-1 flywheel. we rebuilt the throw-out bearing last season because it was seeping but that was after maybe 4 years of racing. i can't answer your question about the clutch fork, etc. everything we build we use htob's. it's easier and takes up less room.

Heres a copy and paste from my post on this last year:
I just test fit a new Lakewood blow proof #15005 to my LQ4 fit good except for some minor grinding near the top of the block for the nut on the block plate. This may not be an issue with the aluminum block LS1 & LS6. It also comes with a machined adapter that presses into the back of the crank to use a standard pilot bushing. Instead of the adapter and bronze pilot bushing I used a GM pilot bearing #12557583 which is a sealed ball bearing , everything fits perfectly and it cost less than $10.00 . Much less than some dealers want for the adapter to use the old-style bushing. This bellhousing even has a bracket on it so I can mount a bracket for my clutch cross shaft. This bell will ONLY bolt up to Muncie,Borg Warner T-10 , Doug Nash , and other transmissions with the old style bolt pattern.

NO !! the s&p mounts will move the engine to far forward . You will have to make your own or I can make them in either solid or factory style rubber.
see a pic of the solid style here:https://ls1tech.com/forums/attachmen...chmentid=10335
