Who's gonna be the first??

So who's gonna be the first to put a 6.0L, 4L80E, 2500HD transfercase, and 2500HD rear in a new 4x4 colorado/canyon?

The 6.0L has already been put in, and its known to fit...so the next logical step is to try and get a 4x4 drivetrain from a fullsize in there to get all that power to the pavement.

nah, keep it looking stock on the outside...or make is look like the colorado exteme...then blow away all commers. Turbo it, and heck it might even be able to beat parish. lol
:drive:

I believe that would be one bad hombre with either a turbo kit or some type of whipple charger on it. It would make for lots of grins from the Mrs. when she comes home and tells you how she just whopped on someones hotrod. Cheers !!!

That would be pretty sick. They're light trucks, too.

Hmm... I'm looking for a project as soon as my Lightning sells...

N20LS1 Feb 14, 2006 12:16 PM

Colorados are nice looking trucks, I wish they came with a v8 from the factory.

ex-SS-ve Feb 14, 2006 12:25 PM

might not be the first one to do it. but mine will have a h/c ls2 in it. picked up a 2004 ls scsb colorado last week! :) cant go wrong on the price or the looks of these trucks :drive:

You know that would be a cool project, I would just hope he or she could get traction worth a damn. Ha.

ladder bars and coilovers.
:)

What would a truck setup like that be capable of? Drag strip warrior, or could it be strong in the twisties as well?

92zcamaroperson Feb 15, 2006 09:42 AM

with 4x4 it should hook pretty well. And with the right suspension setup I can see it taking some pretty good turns. But then you wouldnt be taking it off road after that. Can you adjust how much power goes to the front or the back? I dont know if it would work but having slicks on all 4 wheels just sounds awsome. That would be some crazy pull.

drag strip warrior.

why would you want a truck in the twisties? even with the best suspension available, id still rather have a car for cornering.
im sure you could argure that point, but the weight of the truck just wouldnt satisfy me if i really wanted to push it.

definately true. this being the first truck i have ever owned. so used to driving my car in the rain. couldnt go anywhere with the colorado . traction is horrible even with the 3.5 I5 and 275/70/16s. :drive:

Well, from what I've seen and off the top of my head, the truck doesn't have a high weight. I THINK it's under 3500lbs. We've got GTOs, Chargers, and even Mustangs weighing over that...and alot of those guys take their vehicles to track events or auto-x.

I'm coming from a Lightning, so the idea of a truck that's about 1k lighter than my current one, with more power...the ability to go 4WD for drag races, or grip through corners with some handling/lowering mods...does appeal to me. I've beat some cars in the twisties that didn't expect a truck to even hang.

We probably could argue this round-and-round, alot of people don't think a truck belongs in that sort've situation... I just think it's more of a differing perspective thing, rather than a weight thing. Base GMC Canyon, LS1 and T56, lowered on a decent suspension... Mmm.

LS1S10 Feb 17, 2006 06:28 PM

My I4/MA5 scsb weighs just a tad over 3100 lbs, i toyed with the idea but im more focused on my S10 project. I know my Colorado deffinitely needs something, this 4 banger thing is killing me.

ls1_chevelle Feb 17, 2006 07:14 PM

Theres pics out there of a LSx in a Colorado. Looks piiiimp.

Will a Cummins fit in that lil thing? Road race lightweight turbodiesel. Mmm.
