Default wiring harness mess -> too many harnesses! PLEASE HELP!

Okay guys, here's what I have for my engine swap project:

1) Full engine/trans pull-out from a 2003 2500 chevy van - 6.0L, 4L80E, all harnesses and computer. Still have the rest of the van.

2) Full engine/trans pull-out from a 1999 Camaro - 5.7L, 6-speed, all harnesses and computer. Still have the rest of the car.

What I want to do: I want to use the 5.7L engine and the 4L80E trans in my hotrod. The 5.7L is light, and the 4L80E is strong. I am dead set on this combination. I want to spend the least amount possible, but don't really want to do any wire cutting! How can I make this work with the hanresses and computers I have? I suspect I will need to have one of them reprogrammed but that's okay.

Thanks, -Dave

My guess would be that the operating the engine is basically the same, so I'd try using the van computer and harness with the 5.7L and 4L80E. You'll probably need some reprogramming to get the engine running optimally, but I'd think it would run with the stock 6.0 programming.

You're probably going to want to use the van ecu and wiring so you won't have to do a lot of custom **** for wiring in the 4l80e. You will want to get the ecu tuned though using the stock ls1 tuning at least, because the van ecu will have the tables for the 6.0 (bigger injectors, lower compression ratio, etc...) and it won't run your LS1 to its full potential. Get ahold of Jesse Bub (wait4me). I think he only charges $30 for this sort of thing.

He will also know exactly what you need to do. Good luck, that swap is going to be insane.

Search 4l80E on this forum, they make a standalone trans manager that only needs a few simple inputs, and there's also some snap in bastard wiring to make wierd combinations like yours work.

I think I need to give Speartech a call... they will prob be able to set me straight on what to use and be able to reprogram the computer as necessary. Any other decent wiring/programming companies out there?
