If you need to head towards one side or the other, I like the Camaro LT1 1LE elbow. You can flip it either direction, and looks pretty decent. I used it on the Buick Roadmaster we recently finished and it's what I have on the 91 Z28 now, replacing the original TPI setup. There is a pic of it about half way down at:

After the elbow I have the MAF and then some industrial hose or whatever, followed by a K&N filter.
There are lots of ways of doing it, depending upon the room available and the desired look.

I went mega cheap-*** with mine:
<img src="http://240z.jeromio.com/motorswap/Feb03/sZCarAirIntake1.jpg" alt=" - " />
I looked into that LT1 elbo but it was too pricey. On mine, the flex is a piece of 4 inch air intake hose from AutoZone. Cheap. I used some foam weather stripping around the TB to make it extra air tight. Also put the stripping on the MAF. The rubber piece is a plumbing adapater from HomeDepot. Cheap. The rest is 4 inch PVC. 2 street 90s, one has its female end cut off. The air cleaner (not cheap) fits onto a 3 inch coupling - the OD just happens to match the ID of the 90.

I put a giant 4 1/4 inch hole in my radiator support. I re-enforced it with some strapping.

This is becoming the "ask John from speartech forum" jk. Isnt the LT1 elbow an oval because of the throttle body?? And where can i pick up some industrial tubing?

Yes it is an oval. But when pushed into a circle, it just happens to be the exact same size as the LS1 TB! Tighten the clamp and it looks like it was made for it.

Oh yeah....I got this stuff I'm using from a sheetmetal ductwork fabricating place a long time ago. I had called a few places looking for it, and this small place had it.

Good idea John. I guess that the 1LE doesnt have that weird snorkel long tube thing on it. Can the regular LT1 elbow be modified, or is it not worth it.
BTW,
Great times for the 222/222! I love that generation of Z's!

Yes, you could take a regular LT1 elbow and make a plug to get rid of that "donkey dong" air silencer. That would look fine if you are angling over to the drivers side. The problem is if you have to go towards the passenger side, the plugged hole would be sticking up, and it would look a little nasty. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Thanks. The car is LOTS of fun on the street! With the Yank TP 4400, there's not much around here that even comes close to keeping up with it from a roll.

For the metal tube section I had a local exhaust shop with mandrel bending capabilites bend a 4" tube per my exacting specifications. The rubber 90° piece connecting the throttle body and the rubber "hump" tube connecting the metal tube to the MAF were purchased at a local large diesel truck parts supply house.

Thanks for the responses guys!! I ordered my aluminum tubing and 2 90's from JTR today, came out to about 30 bucks, so it didnt break my bank.

http://shop.airflowonline.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv has all sorts of good stuff

<img src="http://www.chitownsyty.com/bg/cobra/DCP_1493.JPG" alt=" - " />

This is on our Cobra. It sucks some warm air behind the radiator, but has access to a good volume of air from underneath. Limited space, probably the best option we had.

I used a 3 ½ supertrap exhaust elbow from summit. I only needed a 30 deg. Elbow but they sell the same part in a 90. You could go with stainless steel if you really wanted to get fancy. Follow this link
Http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/027739.html

It is about ¾ of the ways down labeled the intake.

I don't know how much one would run but the intake on the new 2003 GTO's makes a sharp 90 much like the lt1. Something to consider
