Rack won't reach collum
 
I'm putting an Ls1 out of a 98ss in my 94 camaro V6 car . I'm using the rack ,Kmember and collum from the 98 and it wont reach .
Any Idea why?

I don't know why, but I'm curious what you find out. :confused:

When you say collum, you're talking about the extension from the rack to the stub coming out of the firewall? Or did you replace the entire steering collum all the way into the drivers compartment? Do the V6's have a shorter stub coming out of the firewall perhaps? Just a thought...... I've never really looked at a V6 before.

The two columns are the same length.
Is it common to have to make extensions I would think it would bolt up?
The column and rack are both out of a wrecked car. They look undamaged.
It only likes about an inch it will touch the column but won’t slip over it.

If the car was wrecked the steering colum is collapsable. I just put a ls1 in my 93 and it bolted right in.

Is There a way to pull it back out ? It Looks to be the same lenth as the one that came out .
