Default ls1 into a 54 chevy pickup won't start

I have a 1954 chevy pickup with a LS1 and i have it all mounted and installed, when i went to start it, the motor fires on a couple cylinders then it stops, any ideas? oh yea i have a painless wiring kit that has a fuel relay connector that no relay fits in, so i bypassed it and made my own connection to the fuel pump. any ideas what it could be let me hear them, not sure if computer needs that fuel relay?

The computer does not need the f-pump relay to run, you just need fuel pressure at the motor. I know this is probably redundant but just in case, did you delete the VATS in the computer, if you still have VATS that would cause it to die almost instantly.
