Wire harness conversion Q's
 

I have a few questions about my harness conversion. The details are - 2002 F-body harness going into an Ultima GTR with LS1 engine. The PCM will control the fuel pump, A/C compressor. No smog stuff.

Q1 - Can the RED #10 terminal WHT wire be used to feed the tach signal to my digital dash?
Q2 - The BLUE #60 terminal is a BLK wire, LOW REFERENCE. What does this mean? It is related to the Throttle Position sensor. Where does it need to be connected to?
Q3 - The BLUE #8 terminal is a GRY wire, 5V REFERENCE. What do I do with this wire?
Q4 - The RED #53 terminal is a GRY/BLK wire, Ignition Retard Signal. What is this? Where does it connect to?
Q5 - The RED #17 terminal is DK GRN/WHT wire, A/C REQUEST SIGNAL. Can this be connected to the output side on my temperature thermostat? What voltage does this wire want to see?

Red pin 10 wht wire yes, this is the tach signal output, you can use it for your digital tach as long as you can program the digital tach to accept a 4cyl signal, if not you will have to reprogram the signal in the pcm or use a convertor.

Blue pin 60 I think this wire goes to the TPS sensor, but don`t quote me on that, I don`t have diagrams for an 02.

Blue pin 8 I think this one also goes to the TPS sensor

Red 53 This is for the traction control system, you don`t need it unless you are also putting traction control in your conversion. (Which would be kinda cool :) )

Red 17 You probably can use it but I don`t know how, I have not hooked my A/C up yet. :cry:

And another question - where is the IAT sensor located? Can't find it anywhere on the parts I have!

on a pullout, the IAT sensor will be in the "lid" thing, it's a round sensor about the size of a nickel, with tiny black lightbulb looking thing sticking out the middle of it.

the connector is on the drivers side of the harness, past where the alternator plug is.

The still outstanding question is;

RED #17, A/C REQUEST SIGNAL - What does this wire want to see? +5V?, +12V?, GND? ????? Need to know before connecting this wire!

Not to steal the thread, but the IAT was brought up. Do I need this sensor? I didn't det it with my motor. Where does it need to be mounted?

Yes, you need one. It goes somewhere along the intake tract, between the filter and the throttlebody. On some vehicles (ZO6, LS2, some trucks), it is built into the MAF.

Anybody out there that has connected the PCM to the non-LSx car's harness and controlled the A/C system with it?

Red#17 needs 12V to request the A/C on. Then it uses the signal from the Pressure Sensor to determine whether or not to turn on the compressor.

And...
 

...the A/C clutch status wire(green) goes to your pressure switch on your accumulator tank/dryer. The A/C clutch relay control wire(gray) goes directly to your compressor...(via a relay?)...correct? :)
