Default Cleaned up the wiring some more...

Well I made a thread over a year ago ( https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-swaps/315288-cleaned-up-wiring-routing-question.html ) about cleaning up the wiring and I didnt do too much to it until this past week when I installed some flexalite dual cooling fans. I got rid of that crappy big grey autozone wire loom for some nice smaller stuff from sears. Tell me what you think/suggestions. Nevermind gauty heater hoses, the heater core is blown.

Thanks. Mine was a 305 TBI, but the V6 shouldnt really be any different, your going to be ripping it all out anyway. You can buy everything you need to mount the tranny and the motor. Spohn sells it as well as a few other companies. I have a set of conversion motor mounts for sale btw, and spohn sells the trans crossmember seperate. I started the project not even know what a connecting rod was, so I learned a lot as I went along. Its definatly do able by most people if youve ever worked on a car, just takes some time. The only thing with the a t56 is I think you have to do a little modification where the shifter comes through, but from what I remeber reading it wasnt too extensive. Wiring if your good/have the time you can do it yourself, but i just put it in Speartechs hands. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

oh, no i just used my stock 3rd gen shifter just attached a 4th gen shifter cable to the stock shifter...but this is for an automatic. T56, I think you have to modify something on the trans tunnel where the shifter comes though?? if you search for it on here Im sure you will find it. My shifter looks completely stock...in fact my whole interior looks completely stock except I swapped in a 145 mph (350 TPI) cluster and I have a little fan switch...which was my goal.

Id like to do something in the future to it. Ive looked at heads/bigger cam, forced induction, just about everything, I actually do have a nitrous kit just not hooked up...but I really dont have the money to be doin that right now unfortunatly.

Me and my friends just basically went along and put the pieces of the puzzle together and if I had problems/questions I would come on here. Search all my threads...theres about 25 "I NEED HELP" or "BIG PROBLEMS" threads I started, lol, but it all worked out in the end. It took me a little over a year to get it running decent enough to drive it around, but a good majority of that time I was at college and only worked on it during the weeekends or sometimes I would shoot home on an early day (that was a crazy year). I also was very inexperienced with cars when I started, so I learned everything the hard way.

Things you would need besides motor and tranny:

need:
motor mounts, tranny crossmember, conversion fuel lines, fuel pump (inline or intank, I went with intank), some wiring best left to speartech. some exhaust system, either long tubes from hawks or shorties/manifold with a custom y-pipe or true duals...thats about the bare minimum you would need to get the thing running if you do everything right

eventual/preferable:

better drivetrain, better suspension (thats almost a need), better brakes (also almost a need), motor upgrades , this is where a lot of my money went

And a majority of my money went to the little **** like trips to autozone for wire loom, oil, coolent, trans fluid, brake fluid, hoses, clamps, hose clamps, bolts, nuts, etc.

Take a look at this list http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/2046045-post28.html , this is where most of my money went as of a year and half ago. there is about another 4 grand on top of that in mainly crap since then. But dont worry, if you do any research unlike I did you can make it out in about 1/3 of that cost.

***I forgot to mention, I have heard that wrecked cars (that still have working motors/trans) using the parts you need and selling the rest you can come out almost even.
