Lightbulb Radiator sizes you run per Hp you produce.

I've done some searching for papers that might address this.
Radiator size based on HP produced and Max outside temps you vehicle might ever be in.

I'm debating over 27.5 x 3 x 19 Aluminium racing radiator with the inlet and outlet both on the passenger side. Or the same radiator 31" wide.

The 27.5 would fit perfectly between my frame rails while the 31" would need a tad more fabrication to get it to fit.

I figure I'll leave the motor stock for the first year then, start doing the HP dance later.

My motor is stock and I'm just running a new stock g-body radiator. I drove the car in 100 degree weather and it ran plenty cool with the 160 thermostat. Never tried to overheat at all.

I think it depends on what HP dance you do. The LS1 seems to cool a hell of a lot better than any SBC or BBC. The 31" has roughly 10% more area, but may not make a big difference.

Will you be adding a stroker with a blower and running A/C? If thats the case, the extra insurance for the Texas heat might be a good idea. If your only adding a cam and some boltons, go the easy install route.

I run a 26" rad with no problems at all including hot days. I also had less than ideal air flow for the first few hundred miles do to some missing air baffles. This engine has been the easiest to keep cool out of any I've ever had

What about the connections both being on the Passenger side since the LS1 water pump seems to be designed for this. I figure why not buy the racing style that has them on the same side

The stock upper return side has to make a huge J-turn and come back to the drivers side.

a stock LT1 radiator will suffice for just about every single application of an LSx

Thanks man I appreciate that. It's just been me working on this car, my wife supplies the energon cubes and an occasional third hand but thats it.

I just pulled the motor out Sunday and have began the firewall floor boards.
and all other sheet metal.

I plan on putting back on the doors, and doing all the body work, and getting the panels straight this month.

This is the last time I try to build a car in a 1.5car garage.

If anyone lives in 77062 area and wants to share some knowledge or help let me know.
