I put one into an e12, basically a older e28. Fits very nicely. Engine mounts right to the crossmember. Biggest issue is the steering box. Yank it out and put in an e30 rack and pinion.
What else do you want to know?

Default E28 swap in progress

Car--1987 535iS.
Engine--5.3 all aluminum out of a 2005 GMC Envoy (same as Trailblazer).

Engine is currently on a test stand. I've plumbed up the fuel pump (Walbro 225) with a Corvette filter regulator. I've sent the ECM to Street & Performance for VATS removal and gear ratio adjustment. Have most of wires identified which need to hook up to the car. Helm's manual has been a big help there.

Should start actually fit up over the Xmas holidays. I'll start posting pix then. Keep us posted on your progress.

Hey Redmist, did you use a front sump LSI pan of some kind or modify the crossmember?

I used a Holden oil pan.
Here is a link to the pics.

My son totaled the car.

Nice E12! Looks like it was a wicked machine.

Glad to hear the Holden pan worked. I've got access to a free GTO front sump pan which I'm guessing should be the same.

Have you posted other details in the past? Like how you did the E30 rack & pinion or what kind of exhaust manifolds or headers you used? Don't want to keep bugging you if you've already covered this but I'm new to using the search function and haven't come across it.
