Ls1 chevelle headers?

Anyone know where I can get the Doug's headers for the old price? The other ones I've found are hookers for $510 I believe.

The Doug's used to be listed as $449 now they're listed at over $500 on summit for uncoated!

This is BS. Why the hell are these things so expensive?

Dougs Headers D3338 are the coated headers Retail at $569.95 and the install kit SK100 Retails at $82.99 these are thru Summit Racing.I paid a little less than $70 less on a whole sale account for the pair.Check out my thread for pics of hte headers and adapters.

The edelbrock headers seem to be the no brainer choice to me now. They are only $30 more than the dougs and cheaper than the hookers yet the made of stainless steel and a stepped design. So for $30 more you can be guaranteed they won't rust and make more power. I just wish they were out when I bought my hookers.

I'm looked for the D3338-R headers, the raw ones. Its not worth $60-100 to me for chrome or ceramic plating when the rest of the engine will look plain anyway. Plus I happen to like black headers.

They used to be listed at $449 and now they're only $10 cheaper than coated. So if that's the case then I'll be getting the Hookers for $509

I'll be making my own engine mount brackets ect. No point buying something for nearly $100 when I can make them myself.

I cant find the edelbrock headers on summit outside of their expensive ass swap kit.

Have a link? Summits website is useless for searching.

Here is a link to the edelbrock headers at summit (http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku) I should add they are $30 more than the ceramic coated options out there but not the painted headers. I had nasty rusted non-coated headers on my chevelle before and I said never again. However I was temped to save some $$ and go non-coated.

I wonder if those headers will work if U use the BRP motor mounts like I did? I would guess that it should only be a better fit by moving the motor back a few inches.

pist0lpete 04-11-2008 05:47 PM

I would guess that they would fit fine with brp mounts. I used hookers and brp mounts and it was fine even though hooker designed them to work with their mounts. No guarantees of course though.

well I ended up getting the Doug coated ones, they have the o2 bung in the collector so I didn't have to get $60 reducers with o2 bungs

also ordered my throttle cable and a pair of manual cutouts
