Anyone else's top leaking?

I can't seem to figure out why my freaking top keeps leaking! I have replaced the seals, but it still leaks. Any help?

mine leaks from the door seals and sometimes a little from the rear window area when under rain too much..
Id say check your rear window are too ..

Josh40601 Jan 20, 2011 10:34 AM

rear window doesnt leak, only on the driver side where the two seals meet.

Ive never replaced the seals. When mine leaks from the front ,were the top closes, i stretch the seal on the top that contacts the window. Kinda trying to make it longer so it takes up the gap. This worked form me short term but U could try glueing it like that so it stays that.

not sure i know what you're talking about. I have pictures of where mine is leaking. It is the center of the driver side where the top of the window meets were the two side panels come together.

I think the problem is the weather strip is to short or shrunken over time causing the small gaps between both the front windsheild and the other side that seals the top. At frist I would move the strip foward and it worked but leaked from the otherside. look at the pic and see if u can strecth it like this and glue it so it stays that way. without that it would only last a day or two.

With a little luck. Maybe one day someone will aftermarket the 4th gen vert rubber strips.

Josh40601 Jan 20, 2011 02:11 PM

they do. Its just like 200 something bucks for it.

Try a product named Gummi Phluge. It softens the rubber gaskets and makes them seal better.

Anyone have a link to the weather strips?

gyrene2003 Jan 22, 2011 02:30 PM

well, ive got the common leaking problems, but then again my 2000 t-top camaro did too, and so did my 86 IROC. My biggest problem after 6 years of ownership right now is the cloth beneath the rear glass and the trunk seperated when i ever so gently ran a sponge over it last weekend and the chevy place wanted to replace the whole damn top and the upholstry shop wanted to charge me 500 plus bucks just to replace the glass and thier aint nothin wrong with the damn glass. so i just put, some sealer on it.

I have 4 drop tops and the only one that leaks is the lowest miles always garaged one.
But the top is almost always down.
This isnt really good for it .
