Default Hard Top Removeable Cover Like 'Vettes

I tossed around the idea a while ago about making some kind of hard shell cover for our cars.

Mustang,Miata and 'Vettes have them so its possible.

I was thinking in terms of this.

Issue is, the soft top is not removable (more than once).
Unlike the mid-year 'vettes where it sort of sits on top
of the body. So you'd have to be committed to the "hard
top or no top" situation.

This , a front splitter and rear valance were my biggest dreams for f-bodies . 6LE has the last 2 covered , but I guess we`ll never get a removable hard top

I have thought about this idea some too. Do you think it would be possible to drop the top and then make a hard top cover that mounts under the deck lid like the stock convertible top cover and then attaches to the front of the car with locks (like how the convertible top locks above the windshield). May not be super strong but it would be a way to mount it and then you can shape it off a frame. Plus you would not have to remove the convertible top in case you wanted to take the hard top off the car.

Ive always thought something like that would be cool. I think I had the same picture in my head as carguy, something that would lock in with the stock locks up front and fit over top of the soft top when its down. I was thinking though that maybe you could put some latches somewhere around the seatbelt towers that it could lock down on like in the front.

I think the best would be what you guys just explained , that would definately be cool .
No doubt , this would be the coolest mod to a vert .

I see a couple others of you have the same style setup idea I was thinking of for the vert hard top. I agree with DropTopBird with a couple more locks to hold it down too. I'm just not sure where they would go. I think it would be a cool thing to have for the vert too. May have to draw something up and get in contact with 6LE. Haha. Though I can't draw very good.

From knowing 6LE personally this will probably never get made. The only vert products he is interested in is a CF light bar, ive ran everything by him

That would be sweet and lightweight. Now if I was a little closer to their shop to go in and talk to them... I'm about 4 hours from their shop. Lol. Idk if I would buy one but I would definitely like to see some sort of concept for our cars.

i think thats the problem how many would buy, vs. the cost to make. But i would buy one in a heart beat and just remove the top totally save the weight lol
