Top latch

my drivers side latch is loose and needs to be tightened up. Looks like a lot of disassembly to get at it. Anybody ever messed with this before?

I can't say that I have, but IIRC, the hook is threaded w/ a jam-nut on it. I think its simply a matter of loosening the jam-nut, twisting the hook in a few threads, and then re-tightening the jam-nut.

No, the entire latch mechanism has gotten loose. the FSM shows two screws that hold it down but it seems like there's a huge amount of tear down just to get at it.

I replaced mine. It is tight but can be done if careful.

The two bolts are an allen if I remember correctly. I lowered the top to get some slack in the top and very carefully worked the socket and small ratchet in place. Once loosened I used my fingers to take them out.

There is a really small allen set screw that locks the hook in place. Undo that and unscrew the hook. This makes the latch a little easier to work out of the frame. Slowly twist and work it out.

Repeat the process in reverse order to install and replace. Adjust the hook to the right length and set with the set screw when done.

Hope that helps a little.
