Default Painting Convertible boot cover

Anybody painted their boot cover to match their car? Any pics and how did it turn out? Thought about painting mine to match the car.

Although not body color I have painted one to match my ebony interior. The biggest step is to make sure it is clean and free from oils that would end up ruining the finish.

Personally it sounds like a bad idea unless you were dying it to match the interior. Being a 3 piece cover, I'd think the parts that overlap eachother would start marring the paint. Other than that I think it would look good.

krylon fusion might be a good idea for this as it kinda bonds and I don't think it would scratch nearly as easy as other paints. I used it on the flares on my jeep and they are close to the same material and it was quite tough and looked great!!

Yes, use krylon or a paint that is made for plastic. I bought a tan color boot color and painted it black. The krylon bonds very nicely to the platic. I could not scape it off, appears that the platics absorbs the paint.

there ya have it. i believe the fusion has tuolene or some other chemical used in model glue to make it 'bond' with the plastic. and all i did on my flares for surface prep was whipe them down good with alcohol and give that a few minutes to evaporate.....few light light coats later they looked awsome!!

The black looks so good with my red car I wouldn't try it myself, but go for it if you think it will look better.
