Default Would adding AFR 205s to my G5-X2 cam only car boost mid-range torque?

My car makes the numbers in my sig and is a bast to drive, but I'd like a little fatter powerband. The car comes online at 3500 rpms and really boogies over 4000.

I'm considering getting a set of 59cc 205s to replace my stock heads. I'm guessing it'd be a 470+ rwhp car w/ the heads? Yes/no?

I know AFR heads are amazing and I know your power will be greater at any RPM. I dont know how much more but you will definitely pick up alot of power

Brian,

You will get better overall performance but to increase the lower and middle RPM performance increasing your compression will help the most. AFR's down at 59cc will help a lot.

my g6x3 (aka g5x3vII) with afr 205's 59cc made 490 rwhp 445 rwtq. 360 rwtq @ 2800 rpms. I don't see why you wouldn't hit 470 rwhp 430 rwtq. Do you has the asp ud pully and meziere ewp ?? If not those 2 little items will help your quest for more power by reducing parasitic drag. Also another bonus is greatly improved gas mileage. Best of luck to ya, and please post a graph after you do the swap.

Don't get caught up in dyno #s my friend. Get the AFR 59cc 205s on and I am guessing you have a fast? If no get a ported fast and it will be a hell of a difference in the SOTP dyno and a blast to drive.

I'm running a ATI superdamper and stock water pump beacuse I used to run HPDEs in the car before getting the Panoz. The ATI is a 10% underdrive because they couldn't achieve their performance levels for crank dampening with anything smaller. EWP is a no-no for any kind of road racing.

That's the other thing... my fuel economy is really in the toilet... I'm averaging 13.5 around town and 25 on the highway. At cruise the instant goes back and forth between 26 and 27.

I don't feel like spending the coin on a new manifold/TB so if I do this it'll be a straight head swap and re-tune.

I'm not... hence why I'm asking about mid range torque. No I'm running a stock LS6 manifold and TB untouched... Tb isn't even ported.

I would think you would see an across the board increase.

Why is an EWP a no no for road racing ??

They flow plenty to keep you from getting hot, and they also reduce the load on the engine and allow faster Revs.............

The heads will make more torque and hp from the bottom to the top. You can leave the intake and TB the way it is if you want to. It will hold back some hp, but I'm sure you already know that. Slap on the heads. Let us know how she runs and the dyno numbers.

My heads are what is holding me back from making some more hp. Basically, like you, I just want more torque. I may just get the stock heads reworked for now.

EWP is a constant flow rate vs. a mechanical water pump that flows more w/ RPM. A traditional water pump will flow more overall and you don't have to worry about getting too hot etc.

I've been doing HPDEs and TTs since '02 and have never seen an EWP around a road course.
