Default My, how times have changed.

Ya know, i've owned a VHS copy of a video tape enitled: America's Fastest Cars. It was made by Road and Track, back in 1996. They used 5 stock American Cars,..and 5 of the exact same cars modified by proffesional tuners. Tuners like Doug Rippie Motorsports,Lingenfelter Engineering, Vortech Engineering,Saleen, and Hennessey performance. All vehicles were driven by one driver, the late great Phil Hill. These test were on a test track, were high speeds could be reached. I cam across the video on the web,...and I wanted to share it with everyone.

Watching it,....you gotta admit, makes you feel pretty good. Me personally, it makes me feel awesome. Remember, I watched this video,...back in 1996. So the cars in it,...are all dream cars to me. I was 18,...and driving a 13.2 mustang,... So all these cars in this video,..were all supercars to me. Every one of them.

Now, watching the video,..it's so impressive to compare the "SUPERCARS" i the video,....to the bone stock cars today. WHat a long way we have come!!!!!! We have stock C5's running 170-180's. Bone stock 09 ZR1's running 200+ Vipers going 190's. Z06's going 190's. People doing 200+++ in the standing mile. WOW. How can you not be imressed with what we have these days? I know it was possible to go FAST back in the day(sledgehammer or banksturbo firebird) but,....that wasn't the norm. Now it is.

I gotta say thanks to the manufactures for making this possible in record timing. Pretty flipin cool.

Anyways,...hope you all enjoy.

You think that's funny... try growing up in the late 60's-early 70's. And the gas crisis of the mid 70's, when you could buy a muscle car for a couple grand. I could retire on a couple of those now.
Cool videos though.

Yep and "any stock car" under 12.00 was Pro Stock with factory backing.

I won't even go into road racing lap times...

but you might look at the early Trans Am series (factory racers)...

for comparision.

RIght? I was thinking, even top fuel race cars,..they've came along way too(obviously all forms of motorsports). I was at the race when they broke 300mph in top fuel in gainsville. Now, if they were stilla full 1/4,..they were going 330's mph. Awesome,
Glad you enjoyed the video's.
