I don't see how. Both the C5 Z06 and the C6 have the same drag coefficient of .29.

Sorry, but that "The C6's aerodynamics wins....hands down." doesn't fly when they have the same drag coefficient. Also, the C5Z is lighter so there's less rolling resistance on the C5Z... Try again.

OK... I'll say that's plausible. The flip up headlights do cause a lot of drag. But either way you're still talking about a driver's race. A good driver in a C5Z will beat an LS3 during the day for sure... And at night, a good driver in a C5Z will beat an average driver in an LS3 because of headlights... But remember, there's always a fix for the headlights.

coef of drag is just one part of the equation. Frontal area plays a big part. I'm unsure which is better tho...
the FRC/C5Z is worst aero of the coupes however, and a C5 couple and C6 will be better in this regard.

Maybe an 01 Z, but on paper the 02-04 Z is faster than an LS3 C6. And I've yet to see a stock automatic LS3 run 12.0 in the 1/4. Whereas I've seen a stock Z run 12.0.
Just a little math here:
3080/405 = 7.605 Lbs/HP
3200/430 = 7.442 Lbs/HP
M12 Gearing (3.42 final gear):
2.97 - 1st (10.1574)
2.07 - 2nd (7.0794)
1.43 - 3rd (4.8906)
1.00 - 4th (3.42)
0.84 - 5th (2.8728)
0.56 - 6th (no need)
LS3 A6 Gearing (2.73 final gear):
4.03 - 1st (11.0019)
2.36 - 2nd (6.4428)
1.53 - 3rd (4.1769)
1.15 - 4th (3.1395)
0.85 - 5th (2.3205)
0.67 - 6th (no need)
Now as you can see the LS3 has a great first gear, but after that it falls on it's gearing and won't keep up with the Z06's. So it CAN feel like it gets up and goes faster, but that's just a butt-dyno. Not proven statistics.
Also, keep in mind that the auto is still going to lose more power at the wheels than the manual. So that is also a factor.
Based on those numbers, the 02+ Zs are faster than the LS3s. Autos certainly have the benefit of a good 1st gear, but after that the manuals really do it right.
That's why I'm saying that a good driver in a C5Z will beat an LS3. I'm not saying that LS3s are slow by any means. They're fast and great cars. I'm just stating that a C5Z [on paper] is faster than an LS3 C6 because of weight (and I'm sure the autos weigh in a bit more than the manuals) and gearing .
Yeah, the C5Z's drag is a little more but that doesn't come into play until after 100MPH. In this case both cars are going to be around 115MPH trap, so that really won't matter. Maybe around 130MPH on the freeway you'll see a huge difference. Also keep in mind that the Z06's were designed to go 175MPH until the tank is empty!

Can you explain the dyno numbers. 04 ZO6 355 to 360 RWHP. 08 LS3 380-390 RWHP.
Tuned and cold air Zo6=375-380 RWHP LS3=390-400 RWHP and look at the torque numbers, the LS3 has tons more torque. On the Auto LS3s you will have to tune down the torque management to run good at the track. From the factory the torque managment is rediculas.
My A-6 LS3 made 395 RWHP with a tune and Vararam!
Check you math
3200#/436hp=7.339
3200#/450hp=7.111 Tuned LS3 w/cold air.
3100#/505hp=6.138
It looks to me the LS3 has a better power to weight ratio.
You have the number backwards.

Ah.. You're right... My numbers are transverse... Will correct. But still stock for stock, not tuned but directly off the showroom floor, the C5Z has the advantage. I weighed my C5Z with heavier wheels and half a tank of gas. It came out to 3080. That was also with a 10Lbs retarded wing on the back I just took off.
There's no reason why a C5Z wouldn't win stock for stock.
Of course you can tune and stuff, but my whole point was stock for stock.
Oh, and I know that the torque management is horrible... GM doesn't want you to break the car that's supposed to handle all that power. LOL Kind of lame, IMO.
I'm planning on putting a maggie on my Z06 and getting a good tune. Hopefully will make 520rwhp. I don't plan to do exhaust because CA is getting retarded with their exhaust inspections now. So even if I make 500RW I'll be happy. I have a Vortex Rammer CIA on it, I figure it's not really doing much for me without headers and a tune, but it should help a bit when the maggie goes on. I'd prefer to go this route since I really don't want a C6 unless I could swing a C6Z. I like the looks of the C5Z more than the base C6.

I think the C5 and C6 both have their good looks.
To me the C6 doesn't look like it was sketched by hand. It looks like it was drawn on a computer. The lines are hard but crisp. There's parts to it that don't look sexy at all. The back is very flat and the front seems taller like an LS1 F-Body. But some of the features on it are nice. I like the look of the stationary headlights, and I like the door handles (although the C3's have the best door handles IMO). I also like the fog lights more on the C6. They look functional as compared to the C5. Although my Z06 doesn't have fog lights, nor does it need them.
But on the C5, it looks cleaner. The lines seem to flow better, the front is sleeker looking, the hood seems lower with more flared fenders, and I love the look of the FRCs/Z06s (even though they're not as aerodynamic). The front bumper to me seems cleaner as well.
All in all, they have their pros and cons, but I prefer the look of the C5. I wish that I had an LS3 or LS7 under the hood and who knows... At some point I may decide to do that. But at this time, my income predicts a future of supercharging.
