Hoosier DR's ??

Has anyone put the Hoosier DR's on the street ?? Please don't chime in about rain, I understand the consequences of a wet road. I'm intersted in how they hook on the street. Of all the DR's they seem to have the "best" sidewall for a stick car.

Thanks...

I had them in 335/30/18's and hooked wayyyy better than any other street drag radial tire. Best tire for traction IMO

Awesome.....thats what I was hoping to hear. Do you think I could get a summer out of them (on the street) ?? Its only a Friday/ Saturday night ride (maybe 1200 miles a summer).

Thanks....FYI, I'm in the 500rwhp range (N/A) but I also spray 150-200 depending on traction and with my drag pack on shes at 3010lb with me.

I'm hoping this tire works for me (thinking 315/35/17).

Thanks.......

I know its been awhile since you replied, but yes, you should be able to get 5k out of them if your not too hard on them. My car still spun them pretty decent and they lasted me like 3k miles

Excellent tire. :D
We have driven on this tire as well as used it at the track. Only a slick would hook better; however, not the best street tire IMHO. :fluffy:

I agree 100%. If you get 2500 miles out of them on the street you did well. Yeah there the best for traction in the dry and the worst for traction in the wet...it's white knuckle city all the way in the rain...hold on to your ass because it's going to be puckered up really tight.

I just ordered some (315/30/18) so we will see how they work with over 550rwhp

Cool, keep us posted.

just ran my 255x50x16 on the street last week around 730pm with 24lbs on brand newly paved asphalt. all i can say is they hooked nicely with an aggressive squeeze on the throttle. no spin on that launch yahoo:nod: but still not a track launch:D

I have a pair of these on some spare 18" wheels. You really have to get the tire pressure low and they will hook. For what it is worth, at 20psi, the NT05rs I have hook much better. I don't care for the swaying feeling at high speeds when you lower the Hoosiers down. There is no way I am getting 5k miles out of the Hoosiers.

I drove my buddy's zo6 sat night with 18" nt05r and they dead hooked. Granted it's all stock, I was still very impressed. He said he had hoosiers on it before that and he said traction was better with the nittos. I'm sure it's a toss up between the two, but I'm gonna go with the nittos when I can get me an extra set of wheels for the corvette

Hoosiers in my opinion work the best. Ive owned a set of Nittos, Mickeys, and the Hoosiers. The Hoosiers just simply hook better in my opinion.

I've had the same experience...now they definitely don't last the longest, but as the old saying goes...the bulb that burns brightest burns the shortest;) Also wanted to add the sway is a little worse being that they're nylon belted, so keep that in mind when manuevering on the street

joshtownsend Aug 2, 2011 06:32 PM

how is the sway at say 150 to 180 mph on a street type environment?
