I found a 3.42 geared rear end for a buddy of mine and his car has 2.73's. I know how GM makes little variations in stuff but I don't fool with vettes too much, mostly F-bodies. So I just need to know if this will just be a direct bolt in thing with the speed sensor and all? Just want to make sure before he buys the diff.

An 01 Z06 will fit just fine. But 2001 was a mixed year. Early cars got the weaker single rib differential. You will want to check it out befor you buy it. It could be like the 97. Here is a picture of both.
There is a broken single rib is on the left. The stronger 3 rib is on the right. The 3 rib is what you want.
