As far as I know the 06 C6Z is the fastest, Qucker lighter and puts down more power do to a different tune...

one thing i will always remember about a Z06...is when jeremy clarkson from top gear drove one and put it in 5th gear and it pulled all the way up...i mean 5th gear from a dead stop and it pulled..wow...talk about power and torque...the other thing is the essential beauty of that car...i stood behind one when it first debuted in '06 and looked at the rear of the car...GOD what an ***...lololol...the curves that car has is awesome in my eye's...took me a while to fall in love with the ZR1 though....but i have as well...

as i said earlier, i wonder if my wife would leave me if she came home and found me in bed with a C6Z06..lolololol....

yes 10's are being done with just DR's...just ask ranger and his 10.71 i believe, guys on the best car forum online, ls1tech can drag race better then these car magazine reporters...so if motor trend had gotten a 11.5@127.00 out of the '06 then that is why ranger is doing so much better with his 11.1 on stock tires...it can be done, just need the driver mod...

Quick question, do you guys think its better to buy a low mile (under 10k miles) 2006/2007 Z06 for around $45k or get a 2008/2009 with around 25-30k miles for $50k?

I've read through the differences and to me they're pretty minor between those years. Thanks for any advice

I am thinking of getting a Z06 and wanted to know the difference between them. This thread was last updated in 2012. Hopefully someone can update it.

I am looking for a reliable car that I can do HPDE a few times a year.

From the little bit that I have researched clutch is very expensive to replace and some cars the gears pop out ( I think only in reverse ).

The 2012 and 2013 Z06 have four cats and more aggressive mufflers. The 06 to 11 models have two cats. I have the 2012 mufflers and x pipe on my 08 Z06. Sounds more aggressive than the 08 mufflers.

Also check the heads . LS7's have been known to drop valves. I had mine done at American Heritage Performance in So. Cal.

2009 added bluetooth and a hatch pull down option in 2LZ and above. Ebony leather wrap now available in 3LZ (2008 only had it in the Will Cooksey special editions). Cars also got the larger capacity dry sump from the ZR1. Spider wheels available (2008 only on the Will Cooksey). More steering enhancements too, I believe.

Definitely go 2009 or up. You get the 10.5qt dry sump oil tank and TR6060.

I am partial to my 08 C6Z 3LZ... Far from stock. These are great cars even unmodified.

I have owned both and 8 different vettes. and the to6060 you can feel the smoothness. but its not a reason to buy newer to me. I just scooped a 07 the other day. its al about what mods, and buget is. its nice to have the newer tranny but not a deal breaker. and I like the older seat better. but I am a big guy... and my C7 was tight fitting.
