Keeping up with the the new Vette's...
I realize this isn't a newsflash or anything, but from what I understand the new C6's are dynoing about 350rwhp bone stock. What is their curb weight? Not sure if they are heavier or lighter than the previous C5, but I saw a post on Corvetteforum where a guy put down 385rwhp w/ just the addition of LT's and a Vortex or something like that? Not sure what the vortex is but I am assuming it's just an air intake.
I am assuming I will need at least 370rwhp to stick with a bone stock one on the highway (I am adding LT's, orp + 224 cam so hopefully that won't be a problem) but if they add just LT's I would need 400+... meaning the addition of heads to stick with just the mildly modded ones.
And damn, I Can't wait to see the numbers the new Z06 will be putting down. lightly modded C6 Z06's will probably be out of my reach unless I go FI...
Geez, It's getting harder and harder to keep up with these new cars. Don't get me wrong I am glad the American muscle is upping the ante to stay ahead of the 4cyl turbo revolution but between the two it's getting expensive to play catch up!!
Anyone have any first hand experience with a C6?

So they still got at least 200lbs on us. Aint that a bitch....
So are my estimations about right that I would need at least 20-30 more rwhp to hang with one b/c of the weight and aero advantage??

Like for example, if it was a race from a stop and pdd was driving the vette, I wouldn't even have to bother with the cam, lol
Just kidding dude, I couldn't resist.

When you start getting as fast as the new Vette, or modded C5's / F-bodies, it becomes alot about the driver. Getting a car 0-60 in sub 5.0 seconds takes some skill. HP isn't everything.

3700 lbs?? Damn, Sounds like your car has been eating too much rice and you need to put that thing on the Atkins diet or something. Do you have a big stereo in it or something? I thought our cars were in the 3400-3500 range. I assumed the WS6's like my car are the heaviest??

why would a ws6 weight more? the hood isnt metal for one. power seats werent availible either. there really is no weight difference in the fbodies, well not enough for it to matter. convertibles are a different story

Well very simply b/c a WS6 is pretty much fully loaded (Mine i think has every possible option) + full ground effects and the Ram Air hood. (is the R/A hood actually lighter than a regular TA or Camaro hood?). I didn't think it was a huge difference, but I figured all in all it was still the heaviest of the bunch...

I did a little looking around and it looks like my car is around 3500 lbs in stock form. that means these phuckin vettes have a 300lb advantage...damn thats a lot of ground to make up. Need to look into lightening now I think...
