What hp do you think I'll put down?

As you can see from my sig I'm doing a ls1 conversion on a miata. The difference between this one and all others is I am (actually a friend is doing all the work) puting a complete C5 drivetrain into this thing. Complete with torque tube shrunk down, M6 T56, Getrag 3.42 rearend. The engine is a 02 out of a Camaro. The heads were done by Mallet, they are the 5.3 heads, Comp Cam (specs in sig), Alum flywheel, custom headers, etc...etc.

If you would like to see a little more on the project you can check out my cardomain site.

Laters, and thank you

my guess would be considering the 02 model engine, and 5.3 heads with a medium size cam, about ~420rwhp~on a consertive estimate if it was tuned well.good choice with the getrag gear, they are awesome.this hybrid should haul ass, what does a miata weigh 2500lbs?should be interesting to say the least...

I'd recomment an M12 tranny, but hey, what do I know.

umm, so your back wheels are going to be sticking out like crazy huh?.... I havent measured one but I swear the miata axle is really short compared to the vettes rear end..... and how are you mounting all of the suspension components... welding a frame back there...??

Jared- Thanks for the estimate. I was hoping for a number in that area and just wanted to get a few more people to look at it and tell me what I think. Yeah, you're right about the Getrag...I've heard nothing but good things about them. Oh, for the weight. All said and done, with me in the vehicle it should still be a little bit under 2500lbs. :)

Assassin- I can't speak completely on the exact set up that will be done. As I stated earlier my friend will be doing almost all of the work himself with me just helping out a little bit. I am just starting to learn. But what I can tell you is that we are cutting and resplining some C5 axles and we will be getting the Miata hubs rebroached to fit the C5 axles. As far as the suspension goes we will be putting a little bit heavier springs, some tubular control arms, and I know he said some other things but I just can't remember any other specifics at this time. Right now I can't afford exactly what I wanted to do so I will only be putting 245's on the rear. When I can afford it I will be fitting some 315's back there!

By the way Assassin, your vette looks awesome! Very clean look.

Assassin May 21, 2005 09:46 PM

thanks.....

but I'm still not understanding you totally..... you know the C5 is a single leaf spring and independant rear suspension right.... sounds like your working w/ a straight axle.... maybe your buddy who's doing the job could explain it better, oh well good luck w/ the project anyway and shoot me some pics when you guys are done....
