Lowering a 2000 Hardtop I have a 2000 Corvette Hardtop. I have been told it takes like 10-20 minutes to lower the car. My truck.. I mean car sits WAY to high right now and I would like it alot lower.
Please help a fellow Corvette Person out, this is for a 2000 Hardtop with Z51.

Re: Lowering a 2000 Hardtop WAY too high? that thing is pretty low as it is...coil overs will lower it, but that involves changing a few components...
Personally, i wouldnt lower it. That thing is pretty low, but maybe Eibach or BMR or Hotchkis has some sort of "lowering" kit to lower it 1" or so...dunno, never really thought about lowering a vette, always thought they were low enough as they sit

Re: Lowering a 2000 Hardtop I lowered my 1" in the front and 1/2 " in the rear. And yes it takes longer to get it up on the jack stands than to do the job. I have a write up about it somewhere. I'll try to find it and post it up.
But the others are right. It is hard getting out of some parking lots and driveways w/o scraping. I'm replacing the little outer air dams this weekend as a result. I reinforced the holes on them a couple of times already, but now they are shot. @ $10.50 apiece though, new ones every now and then isn't too bad.
A set of Bilstein Sports makes it real nice when high speed cornering. (Run over a dime and you can tell if it’s heads or tails.) I take it out to Thunder Hill out here in Ca, and it's really nice. But it may be a little stiff for passengers if you have a shotgun a lot.

Re: Lowering a 2000 Hardtop I bough my car with the lowering procedure listed at http://fixedroofcoupe.com/howto/howto.html already done. The car does not ride stiffer than the stock cars I test drove.

Re: Lowering a 2000 Hardtop After it is lowered, it is still riding on the same shocks. There is less room around the tires for air to get all cought up in, and there is less air flowing under the car. Get a set of Bilstein's HD or Sport. (Sport is the stiffest).
