Crack kills. :shiner:

Any idea how much GM will have to pay to repair it under warranty? :)

vince3 05-29-2006 11:56 PM

would a dte brace prevent this from happening?

They already beefed up the rear starting in the 2006 model year.

Fastbird93 05-30-2006 09:09 AM

Wow......guess it's DTE time now??

Not gonna happen if the right GM rep is looking. GM is pretty picky now on fixing performance cars under warrenty. They sent a rep to look at my TA and then sent another a week later direct from detroit to inspect it. All i was having done was updated shift forks, good thing is mine still has original tires and such. He checked the heads, bolt markings and any signs of abuse before he finally signed off on it.

Either way sorry to hear about the damage, hope its not to bad, badass car btw.

Way to go Rubberneck!!!!!

I guess that car won't be making the Power Tour.

Just for future reference to anyone else finding this thread:

A replacement differential assembly (housing, posi, 3.42 gear, etc.. assembled) is $2100 from GM. Just the housing alone is $660. OUCH :eek2:

Pro Stock John 05-30-2006 10:23 PM

Ouch. Going DTE?

Darkness 05-30-2006 10:23 PM

Heard lots of horror stories from 05 C6 owners on that, the 06's have been beefed up a bit.

All he as to say is that his grand mother only drove it to the grocery store and to church on Sundays.:secret2:

Tony, call DTE. You may have to eat the core charge, so you might as well let them take care of the whole transaction. I have a hardened drivers shaft in mine, but will have a DTE rear in the future. Later than sooner, I hope.

ouch!!!!! better now then on the tour....

im sure tony has connections with a dealer,we own a small dealership and have never had a rep come down and look at a car for warranty.the big dealers have those problems sometimes with so much warranty expense.

Nine Ball 05-31-2006 11:09 AM

not going to try the warranty route, I'd rather not get the entire car voided. I don't have any 'hookup' dealerships in Houston, most are shady to deal with.

Ordered a DTE Stg 3 with a 3.90 gear, and a DTE strut. I'm looking for a core to send them, I'd rather avoid the $2100 new core price since it will be torn apart anyways.

For those contemplating a DTE rearend, you might not want to bust your good one before you pull the trigger. That extra $2100 could be avoided if yours is still good...

We are a small dealer as well, both reps said as soon as the claim came accross (02 TA WS6) it was at the top of the list. Both guys took about 20 pictures to boot, GM wasn't happy in the end, there was a $2000 bill because it wouldn't come apart and the main shaft was damaged in the process.
