Unhappy Shattered Flexplate

Can someone help me????? My 2000 C5 lost an engine due to the flex plate coming apart. Bottom line engine was replaced under GMPP Major Guard warranty. Approx $11,000, my cost was the $100 deductable. When I picked up the car, it's performance was just terrible. I am suspect they installed the wrong engine, but the numbers check out. The service dept however forgot to refill the tranny fluid (4L60E) and the car made it only 6 miles before the tranny smoked. I told them they had one more chance to get it right. My questions are, is a remanufactured GM LS1 ok, or should I press the dealership for a brand new one. Is there some period of time/mileage before these will run up to performance specs? Should I get an attorney and disclose the name of the dealership so other people will not encounter the same problem? Thanks Mike F.

Check the casting number on the heads. 241(2001-2004 LS1) heads are good, 243 heads(01-04 LS6) are great and 853(97-00 LS1) are what your car came with...Also without tranny fluid in the trans, that could make the car feel like a dog...

I've heard the worst horror stories from dealer installed driveline parts.... maybe they left a rag in the manifold doing the install, who knows.... but a dry trans will not put the power down very well thats for sure....

Thanks for your replies. Good news is, that it will be essentially a new vehicle. I hope the re-manfactured stuff is ok. Thanks again!!!! Mike F

Did they replace the trans or just add fluid??? Ouch.. dumb mistake.. probably by a tech trying to make a good pay check and book hours as fast as possible.... I take it they probably didn't road test it?
