What does FRC stand for?????

I don't mean to sound stupid, but I keep seeing FRC in a lot of threads and I don't know what it stands for, or what kind of vette is it. Please help.

Fixed Roof Coupe

It is the C5 Z06 body style that is non-Z06. Just in case you weren't picturing the car. Fixed Roof Coupe is basically a fancy name for "Hardtop".

werd.... i honestly like the FRC styles much more than your reg "targa top" thats what they call the C5 (not a long back and stuff) FRC's are HOTT

frc is the vettes from 99 and 00 that did not have a long back window and the roof is not removeable. z06's have the same body styling(short window) but to help people know what you are talking they are still referred to as z06's not frc's.

but anyway its small back window and a trunk. as opposed to the coupes that have a long back glass and hatch. verts, frc's and z06's have the same roof line.

And now to add to the confusion, you might even see those initials in reference to something not even related to Corvettes, it can also stand for the Fuel Rail Covers that go on an LSX motor LOL. :D ;)

True, Z51 and 6 speed were standard/mandatory on the FRC/hardtops and they are light, only the Z06s were lighter (thinner windshield, titanium cat back, non run flats etc.) among the C5s.

Can also be refered to as Factory Race Car.
Before production the GM code name was "Billy Bob". It was billed as the affordable, stripped down Corvette for the masses.

I can just imagine someone referring to their FRC "Billy Bob" at a convention or something, and getting nothing but confused stares.

it depends!

if the person saying FRC was cussing and really pissed off then he is refering the the Flying Roof Club (probably just got the notice of his dues lol), those guys are always in a bad mood. Now if he is smiling and waxing his car, then well he is talking about the Fixed Roof Coup, which incendently is not allowed to join the Flying Roof Club (I personaly think all of those Flying Roof Club members are snobs, They wont let me and my vert join the club no matter how hard I try :)

More Than Zero

Thank you to everyone that replied. All of you have been very helpful as usual. Now that I know what it stands for, I had a chance to buy one when I bought my coupe. A friend of mine kept trying to get me to buy one, but I wanted the freedom of taking the top off and letting the sunshine in.

Thanks again,
Rusty
