Default Introducing the new LG Motorsports World Challenge wheel

Hi guys,

This is our new LG World Challenge wheel that we are having produced exclusively for us.

This is our own split 5 spoke wheel similar to a Fiske Profile 5, Forgeline SP3p, CCW and HRE.

The design parameter was to make a light weight 5 spoke wheel. We chose a pressure cast method just like the factory Z06 wheels.

We also needed to keep the price reasonable while still keeping LG Motorsports quality that we strive for.

We are taking "Pre Orders" with shipping expected right around the first of the year (10-12 weeks). We will strive to expidite this but we don't want to over-promise and under-deliver.

They will be available at first in only 18 x 10 fronts and 19 x 11 rears to fit the C6. you can fit from a 295 to a 325 rear tire (325 shown in photo) but the 325 is probably the outer limit on rear size and either 265 or 275 front tire.

Introductory Pricing: $1995 for the complete set polished as shown.

We will take a 50% deposit to guarantee deliver and a spot on the list. The first order quantity will be limited, so place your order to take advantage of this great price for a high quality wheel option.

What is the benefit of these over one of the others you mentioned? You say you wanted light weight, what do your wheels weigh vs. the CCW/HRE's etc?

For the price you are offering, I am willing to jump on the list, just need to know the advantages over the CCW's.

Oh and will these fit the C5 w/o tubbing?

These are cast wheels, arent the 505a's forged? If so a forged wheel would be stronger but also more expensive....

I like these wheels for the price.

Damn those look good.

One question though is that car shown with the wheels have the Z06 fenders on the back? Or is that the stock fender. I am not wanting to change my fenders for a lip. And could I get some pictures of the wheels please front and back, I would like to see the lip area into the center please, you can email them to me at damon@badmonkeymotorsports.com. If the wheel on the back is what can fit without the fenders and it does not rub you will have a buyer right here.

Any pics from the rear and from above the rear wheel opening? I'd like to see how far (if any) they stick out beyond the lip on the fender. What do they weigh in comparison to the stock wheels? Extremely interested.

As I said in my original post, "This is our own split 5 spoke wheel similar to a Fikse Profile 5, Forgeline SP3p, CCW and HRE. "

Our's is a pressure cast 5 spoke, not a 3 piece or one piece forged, but Pressure cast just like the factory Z06 wheels are.

And this is a very good option at a more favorable price.

How many split 5 spoke variations can there be? we just came up with our own version. (Kind of like, How many header designs with the same Merge collectors can there be)

Here are some photos of other split 5 spoke wheels. all have some differences, but again, they are all "Split 5 spoke wheels. We just wanted to use the Split 5 spoke design and thus there is not much leway.

We have contracted with a wheel designer that works at GM to come up with our own LG design down the road that will be unique.

Our next wheel will be different, but first we will make the range of Corvette applications with this design.

The front offset is 56mm and the rear offset is 75mm. These are stock fenders on this C6. We will have the full line of Corvette applications as we go along but for now this is what we have.

the weight is equal to stock weight.
They are polished only now but can be had in other colors as an option but we don't have the cost of the colors yet.

Thanks
LG

Here are some of the "split 5 spoke designs on the market at the present. Each has their own features and the costs that go along with them.

Looks like you picked the best split design and left out the gawdy rivets. The signature LG logo is a nice (subtle) touch as well .

No, they are not a copy. There is a LARGE price gap for quality wheels for Corvettes. 800-1200 for Reproductions, and then the 1800-2000$ price gap to the CCWs, then another 1000+ to Fikses, Forgelines, and HREs.

We looked at the market, saw the need as we do everyday with customers, and decided to produce a wheel for under 2000 that was light, the option to be polished, satin or painted.

I think we did that, and the fact that the wheel is almost 2-3 tenths lighter than stock makes it even better.

Ben-

We are testing the C5 fitmet today. This wheel was designed around a C6, so it may not work on a C5, the 18x10 will fit on all 4 corners.

Weight wise, when you look at one piece, large width aftermarket wheels, their weights are significantly higher, 2-4 pounds per wheel.

Our wheels tipped the scale so close to stock is was maybe a few tenths. Close enough that is was not a disadvantage by being heavier

Although its a very good looking wheel, I would have to say that I would rather spend the extra 500 bucks (Their 2,495) for a set of CCW 505a's that are forged 1 peice billet wheels. And thats for a set of 19x10-19x11.5

Personally, I think the Corvette world needs a 1,500 dollar set of split 5 spokes. Every other car in the U.S. has one. HELL, I spent 2 grand on 24x10" Chrome wheels for my H2.
I mean come on. Why does EVERYONE have to make a mint everytime they try and sell something to the corvette world???

To sum it up...Great looking wheel, but severly overpriced for the size, manufacturing process, and finish of the wheel. They should be priced in the 1100-1300 dollar range.

I agree, love the concept, that style is THE wheel for c5-c6 vette's IMHO, but would be much more attractive to me personally and others I'm sure if they were offered in a 18x9.5 front and a 18x11 rear (so dragradials could be utilized) for <$1400/set...I'd buy a set in a heartbeat

I would like to see 18x8.5 or 18x9.5 for the fronts and 18x11 or 18x12 for the rears with offsets for minitubs or not.

Thanks for the reply. When you guys are ready to make the C5 wheel, let me know. I am still tossing the purchase of a C6 around right now.

I think they are a great looking wheel, and priced right. I think everyone is wrapped around the fairly cheap price you can get repros for. This is going to be another option in the split design. If they were much cheaper everyone would buy a set, and I like having different stuff then everyone else. I really like the name on the wheel.
