C6's with paddle shift?

My dad is looking into getting another vette, and has been looking at getting an 06 Z06, but his only problem is that they only come in manuals. So he is also playing with the idea of just a "normal" C6 vette with the automanual. (so my mom can also drive it, otherwise ZO6 > my mom :jest: ) So my question is, what are these like, are they any fun, and is it worth it? Also any other oppionions you guys have.

YES!!!!! they are fun, but thers the thing the paddleshifter have lage so u have to inteperet the time and press the shifter at the right time so u wont hit red line.. It gets annoying at times though :bang: , other then that the thing is awsome looks good, fast, comfy all around awsome u should get it, but if u want power real power get a stick :)

I think thats the first person ive heard say that theres a proplem with the Z06 only coming in a manual. If you want a auto Z06, theres something wrong with you LOL..............JK...I understand.

Your dad should make your mom order herself some driving classes for manuals. :judge:

Hell yeah, I know a one armed firefighter out in Bertram Texas who only drives stick and talks on his CB radio...

F'ing terrifying knowing he is driving tons of firetruck/water one handed, talking on a CB radio, driving stick.

Can the A6 handle the 505 hp in the Z06? I know the 2001 M6 wasn't even strong enough to handle 400 hp.

To bad they don't make a CVT for the Z06 :eyes: .

I know my buddies at the DYNO love the setup. They can hold a gear like a manual.

SHould be BADASS once you throw power at it(not yours, just one in general). I'd imagine some of the lag can be taken out. As well as torque management, which will add alot of driveability.

I'd say do it.

Would the paddle shifters still have the same drivetrain that an auto does?

I keep hearing rumors in 08 the z06 will come with the six speed automatic...and its faster than the six speed manual..

If you dad really wants an automatic z maybe wait till the 08's hit..

The hydraylics (sp) in the M6 suck shit....so the A6 is a good way to go..

Unless you want to monthly change the fluid in the master.....Go with the A6 and skip this nonsense...(the slave on the M6 is crap)

The A6 is a dam consistent tranny too..

Next time I'm getting either a DSG if its available and if not...the A6..

If I have to hear about a sticking clutch pedal one more time I'm going to take a gun and put the dam car out of its misery..

Tell your dad to get the A6 without a doubt.

For the guys with the manual tranny whose clutch pedal sticks to the floor after three clutch replacements and 50K miles..(not because the clutch is worn but because the hydrolyics (sp) are hanging up...)

Its not even a question of money because its a crap shoot as to whether or not your specific car has this issue...and no one knows how to definitely fix it permanently...

I'm giving you my opinion....

I know real men drive sticks....blah...blah...blah...but when the pedal doesn't return and you need to have a speed bleeder put in to keep the pedal working properly....Its a pain in the @ss...

Whose got the time for this nonsense....I doubt his dad does....I know I don't.....anyways....(I'm not flaming anyone or anyones choices or opinion but GM should be prosecuted for this nonsense...) One day someones going to slam into someone because they were dealing with this sticking clutch pedal and not paying attention to the road)

I'm going with the DSG (no clutch pedal manual) or an A6 automatic tranny next time around...

Some guys with the Manual C5 don't have this problem....and god bless them I wish it were me...but me? I gotta bleed the system every month to get it working the way it was designed...

I'd buy a A6 with Z51 (for tranny cooler) and then down the road drop a maggie on it for some nice reliable power...

Is the sticking clutch pedal a 06 Z06 issue or an 05 Z06 issue?

I wouldnt dout it at all. The new GTO's are the same way. The auto's are a 10th a sec faster than the 6-speeds.

Well we're going to go pick up the car next week. Its a 06 Coupe, black with red interior, all the navigation and stereo crap, Z51 suspension, chrome 5 spokes, both tops, and an M6. We got a really good deal on this car, 1600 miles for $45,000 and every option imaginable. My dad pretty much said "screw it, if i was getting the Z06 it would be a M6 anyway, so ill just get this car with an M6 and be done with it, and save the extra $20,000 for other fun things." It was also really weird when we were driving it, he said that i would have a fun time driving it. I dont know why i would drive it when i have my bird, but whatever, 400HP Vette + M6 + me = :eek2:

Ill get some pics of it when we bring it home next week.

Sounds nice, so was it a used car. 1600 miles sounds like its been owned before. Sounds like someone might have bought it just to hotrod it and then take it back??

Yeah, it was a pre-owned. I believe the previous guy bought it, drove it, didnt like it, and traded it in. Every thing is in perfect condition. My dad has checked it over numerous times and has driven it numerous times as well. If it was hotrodded in before its going to happen to it again anyways.
