HID's ?? Just wondering how hard the install is and where I can find instructions if there is any? Is it really worth the buy or just keep the stock headlights? |
keep the stock lights its a pain trying to install HID's just save up and buy some cheap PIAA bulbs. With the money saved mod elsewhere. |
I like the projector HIDs I picked up a while back. The headlights are awesome and I cannot drive with HIDs anymore. They make a big difference if you do any night driving. The install was not that bad on the ones I put in. I think the worst part was fitting the new light housing in. |
Do you know what size PIAA I need. I heard that people with the HID's sometimes have problems getting there lights to go up and down. I just want something better that stock light. I do most of my driving at night. |
if your able to install it yourself and if you have patience or a friend that can do it without damaging the car go for it but unless you buy a kit with projector hid's i dont think its worth it. but if you find an easy way of installing them please post so i could finally install mine. |
I dont think I will be purchasing them as I have read on the corvette forums about the dislikes. I just want some better headlights other than stock. The stock one are not great for night driving at all. |
How aboout these. My buddy had these on his C5 before he sold it. He had the chrome housings. It's not cheap though. This is the only pic that I have of his car. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...7/hidlight.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...7/hidkit20.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...100_5273bc.jpg |

Lol who said HID's are a PITA to install? They are plug n play (at least most kits are) We have some on our Z06 and it took like 25 mins or less to install them and have had them for over a year with no issues. |
Ok so what brand/place should I buy from for the easiest install? |
I just installed a set of HID bulbs with stock housings on my buddies '99. Here are my observations. Installation is pretty easy. Before you, start put penetrating oil on the adjustment screws so they are easy to turn, this will save you some cursing. After install, his headlights would not pop up but it seemed after about 5 mins that the car "learned" the HID's if you will and started to work as they are supposed to, kinda strange and also surprising. Before we started I had him pop up his stock lights and put strips of tape on the garage door to mark where the stock lights are aimed. After the install the lights were pointed at the tape like the stockers but there was "extra" unfocused light EVERYWHERE. It lit up the whole front of my garage (stock did not). He had lost one of the round black plastic pieces on the plastic trim part that wraps around the headlight and on the ride home he said unfocused light was coming through the hole and hitting the cars next to him at stop lights. Like I said, these are my observations and I am not trying to poke anyone in the eye :) On a side note, 3 days after I installed those HID's I bought myself the euro t84 housings, high wattage harness and PIAA H4 high watt bulbs. They are awesome. |
http://www.corvettegarage.com/produc...-corvette.html I think these are the ones... Hey on SALE! Still to much for lights... I would throw the cheap lights in from AUTO ZONE and put a cam in for that money.... or some other sick stuff... But hey thats me... Go B4 show! |
I want to know where he got the bottom lights... I have the stock yellow crap |
Thats my motto to go before show. I think im just going to install the PIAA headlights and if they dont work well then I might get some better HID's later. |

Just find some plug and play 6000k or 8000k HID's. 350-400 bucks, its really easy to install.....it took me 20 mins and they look sweet. |
^ I'd go 6K personally, I plan on getting another set for our FRC but im gonna go 5-6K I dont want much blue in them. |
