Can I get 10's?? So...I've gotta blck 02 zo6-it's my dd and i'm thinking I was gonna try to put longtubes and a cutout and then some spray-(not sure how much yet, but something that i wouldn't have to worry about ) ..what else would i need if i wanted 10's? oh, and has anybody ever heard of two cutouts directly behind EACH header? I wanted it to be normal when i drive around, and then hit the switch and sound nasty- i don't know anything about a pair of "cheap" slicks...since i don't know what they run for a pair of descent ones...but all of the above is up for discussion, just not sure...thanx |
you can't upt cutouts behind the headers. the only place is under the manual tranny where the pipes sorta split apart. thats your ONLY option. i have a set on my car, and with the 427 it sounds absolutely wicked!!! Go with QTP cutouts, very good stuff! if your Z is stock motor, no bolt ons, you'll need like 150 shot AT LEAST to get into the 10's, thats assuming you are a good driver. 200 shot and you'll prolly get it. BUT 200 shot on a stock block/motor...ehh...not suggested... Aj |
I would think full bolt ons, cam, and a 75 to 100 shot with some slicksand skinnies would take care of it. Oh and more than likely a clutch if you dont already have one. |
TNT 150shot for a good driver, 200 for a ok driver(still have to pilot a powerfull car, at wot on spray). Will need tires,....and probably an output shaft to get yourself a LOW et(you'd wanna launch the car pretty hard). Nitrous, is very safe when used wisely. I'd have a fuel pump for 150+ shots. Not to mention, dropping some timing. |
Thanx for the replies to all you cats.... but wait, so i put longtubes n i only will need a single cutout right?.. as far as being a good driver, i had a ws6 i ripped on before this z , and after shredding about 3 t56's because it didn't like bein launched, it got stolen, so i upgraded aftr insurance...lol so yes, I've gotten the driver mod as bout as good as i can do it, xcept for learning my car and yea, it's a stock motor- not realllly wanting to tear it down and install cam, or anything until i get out of college- but how safe is a 100 hundred shot on a stock block? thnx again b |
oh, and V-series...what kind of exhaust you have in that video? |

Aj |
appreciated- i actually knew that about this, just didn't thnk- (i believe i was still thinking about the y pipe from my ramair) lol srry bout that- but yea, i live in louisiana, think it's possible to run straight headers? or is it just ThaT loud? -trucks have straight pipes, but not just headers and I've been having dificulty finding out what my car is rated at for the 1/4 stock...i have heard all Kinds of wierd Sh*t...so now i don't know what to believe |
with a bone stock Z, i think they run like mid to high 12s. slap a full exhaust and bolt ons and tune, low to mid 12s. thats assuming you get traction and are a GOOD driver! a stock 350ci is not "that" loud with cutouts. on a vette, you can't just crawl under and unbolt the cap of a cutout. its not the same as a truck with no exhaust. they are two different motors. do a search on youtube or something for cutout vids. you'll def hear the difference! Aj |
I think you will need less nitrous than most are predicting. If you get the launch right in good weather, a Z06 can go into the 11's (Ranger went 11.49? with just a DR). Mainly, it has to do with the driver, the tire, the launch, and the weather. |
I know of a guy at my local track as well as on a local board, he has a 02 EB Z06 has MT ET Radials, (275) headers, mid-pipe and a dry NOS 5177 kit with upgraded injectoprs pump and all the the doo dads. His best time is 10.55. It can be done. He's only spraying a 125. He has the driver mod. So in theory, you could go bottom 11's maybe touch high 10's with a 100 shot. |
If you want cutouts, you will have to place them after the x-pipe and before the pipe goes up and over the rear end just like badburb said. Once you jack the car up, look under it, you will see where we are talking about. This is what we are talking about, click on the link. You will see where the cutouts are to be installed at. Pretty much the only spot. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ghlight=cutout You will have to go with long tube headers and if you want a catted x-pipe or a noncatted x-pipe. Then that setup will bolt directly to the stock catback on the car. as you can tell from the pictures above. The f-body to a vette are totally different cars. Just wait and see what headers go for. Get ready for the vette tax! BBM98C5 is correct. With a good driver you can get that Z06 into the 11's stock. Then again at atco, fast times are the norm. These cars run high 11's all the way to mid 12's depending on driver. I got my car into the 11's with et streets and a cai only. Although should of been a little deeper if not for the spinning out of the hole. Yes a poorly prepped track, DAMNIT! Here is the C5Z06 fastlist. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1549325 As to get into the 10's. I would say a 100 shot and a full exhaust should do it. Although you will need a clutch, rear DTE brace, tires, cai, and a tune. If the 100 shot don't do it the 125/150 will do it. |

Wow, all kind of advice in this thread. First off you need to take your car to the track and see where you are at. Stock times vary greatly depending on the driver, track and weather. Also the f-body makes for a much better drag car. If you have already been through 3 trannies, then I feel sorry for your clutch. Second, getting a Z06 to run 10s is not an easy or cheap proposition. I suggest you do a lot more research. Third, Good luck you are going to need it! |
