2009 ZO6. Will the LS7 remain in production?.

Yeah, with the coupe getting the ls3 and the zr1 has the "Ls9" which we all know is a boosted ls3. I do not think they would put the ls3 which is in the coupe in the Z. If the ls7 is to be phased out it makes you think what they are going to be putting in the Z. I would guess the ls7 will hold out for a few more years. Unless they make a few changes to the ls3 such as different cam, heads, or cubes ect... and call it a ls? I don't know thats just my guess.

My prediction:
The Z06 gets the LSA in the 550HP CTS-V giving it a HP bump and auto tranny option, thus selling more Z06s than any other previous model year.
The LS7 is not cost effecient enough when they have cookie cutter LS3s to throw in everything with wheels for the next few years.

I'd hate to see the LS7 go...big block power, and still gets all that power out without a gas guzzler charge! I'm hoping it stays in for a while, maybe like someone else stated though, with a bigger cam and 550FHP... to put the Z06 a little closer to the ZR1.

The C6 Z06 will come equiped with the mighty 427" LS7 thru it's production run.
Tom Wallace said the new C7 will have a smaller cubic inch engine than the LS3... but GM will reduce the weight so that the hp/wt ratio stays the same.
It's anybody's guess what the C7 Z06 (if there is one) will have... but it won't be the 427 " LS7.
The C7 Z06 ???... Probably a supercharged version of the standard C7 vette's engine... if it will hold up on the track (road course)... otherwise a head & cam version.

LS7 in for 2009 with increased capacity dry sump system (I believe from 8 to 10.75 quarts). Z06 will also have the "427" wheel as an option also. That's all I know, although heard rumors of HP bump to 525

BTW, he confirmed the bluetooth option (probably for 4LT and 3LZ+) in a later posting:

Actually, rumor has it that it may be phased out by the end of 2010, replaced by the LS8 (supercharged).

Since the 427 is a hand built engine, at the Wixom plant, it will probably be phased out with the introduction of the Cadillac CTS-V and LS9. They only have so much capacity and are very close to it right now. Remember, there are other limited production engines that GM is hand building. The LS2 based engine is at its safe limits right now for HP and GM has had numerous problems with reliability with the Z06...That is why they went to the LS3 for the LS9. Better cooling and beefier make the LS3 the ideal engine to build HP both boosted and non boosted. With a good tune the LS3 will make about 450 hp, change the cam and your at 500. That would also be a much cheaper production based engine. The next problem is 2010+ EPA standards.

So, am I taking it that the LS7 is not a good platform to modify heavily (for boost, or heavy H/C, N02?) If I were considering buying a Z06, should I simply wait for the updated version for a more versatile platform? Or is the LS3 in the 08's the better platform for versatility?
