Default 1/8 mile pass in my '99 C5

A couple weeks ago, I took my second trip in the Corvette to the 1/8 mile Huntsville Dragway. The first time out, I went home frustrated with 8.0 time slips @ 91 mph and 2.0 sixty foot. I knew the car had 7s in it, but a decent 6-speed launch eluded me. I read up on some posts by Ranger, and practiced with the drag radials, and the second time out was a better result. After posting a couple 7.8s and 7.9s, I lined up against a friend's turbo Conquest. We had both set personal bests earlier in the day, with nearly identical 7.8s but his clutch was starting to smell pretty bad. We lined them up for the last pass of the day, and I owned him with my best pass of 7.72 @ 92.2 mph and 1.78 sixty foot. My burnout was a little weak, but otherwise it was a nice, clean run. I am starting to like racing the manual a little better now, but I can't wait to try out the new trans brake in my Nova in a couple weeks. Here is a video from the grudge race.

I have a Patriot 226° with .585" cam, 78mm FAST, Vararam and TPIS headers. It makes 380 rwhp with 376 ft*lbs. At the dragstrip I use a pair of 275-40-17 M/T drag radials. It's kind of embarassing that my daily driver runs within ½ a second of my Nova (on motor that is).

Your ET/mph goes to show my inadequate 6-speed skills. With 92.2 mph I should be .2 or .3 seconds quicker. Automatics dumdumdum. But I enjoy the 6-speed on the street.
