Default Circle D 258mm converter = NPB!!!

We installed a lower mileaged 5.3 in my 2001 RCSB in preparation for the 2009 bracket season. We also decided to swap the stock cam with a Vinci Trucker cam since we had all the bolt-ons and a budget 2600 stall to support the cam specs.

Our first passes gave us a new best of 2.016 60ft with a 8.879(1/8th), and a 13.845@79.91mph. We were pleased, but expected a better 60ft, ET and MPH. That's when we called Chris at Circle D to see if we could step up to a little higher rpm stall converter without creating traction problems. He recommended his 258mm in a 2800-3000 stall to keep it comfortable on the street yet provide a soft hit to perform well at the track. That sounded great since I drive it 100-125 miles one way to the local tracks.

Once we got the Circle D 258mm installed we headed to Angleton Raceway
(a local 1/8th mile track) and put the converter to the test. I made it to the finals and broke out, but ran a new personal best! The truck ran 8.566@80.91 with a 1.957 60ft. That would be a 13.354 using our 1.559 1/4 mile formula. The DA was slightly lower in Angleton, but the better air only made up for slightly less than a 1/10th in the 1/4 mile. The 258mm converter footbrakes higher and helped me easily find my place on the tree, but planted the ET Streets solid on every pass. It's nice having a quality built transmission and stall converter working hard for you when competing against some of the best racers in the business.

Thanks Circle D!!!!!!!!
