Default LQ9 Stock long block + PT88 Turbo 6.32 @ 109.55

R.I.P.

LQ9 stock long block.

You will be missed.

4/9/09-8/21/09

But before she let go, she put down a strong 1/8 mile.

1.38 60'

4.08 330'

6.32 1/8

109.55 MPH

3900# Race weight.

The bad news is that atleast one rod let go and broke the block. Probably wasted the oil pan also. I just hope that nothing went thru the turbo. I'll take a look at it in the next few days and post up the carnage to close out the thread.

Video coming soon hopefully.

Built th350 w/ FTI 4400 stall. Launching the car at 4000 rpm off the transbrake and 2 step. Building about 10# of boost on the line and then about 17# once she gets going.

To be honest, not sure. This is the same converter that I have had since I put the TH350 transmission in 2 1/2 yrs ago. It has been with me since I had the 408 w/ the spray. I just call Greg over at FTI, tell him what I did to the car, what the car is doing, what I want the car to do, ship him the converter and 3-4 days later, the converter does what I want it to do. Haven't seen a bill from them in years. All my wheelie's are due in part to FTI.

i am trying to get a converter from them now but i am short on funds in a big way. he can't use anything in my old converter due to the power level of the new motor i am building. i think by knocking out all my teeth maybe the tooth fairly will give me good $$ for emm. your car sounds sweet in the burn out btw!

Well it's either a 9" or a 10". Next time you talk to him, ask him. He probably remembers.

You gonna build something fast finally?

As for money, there is always the blood and sperm bank.

That's the vid from the failure? Sure didn't look too bad...

Looking to go LQ4 from my current LS6 w/a PT88. I've been following your car for awhile. Would really love to know what caused the LQ9 to fail.

I know it's an older thread, but wanted to ask a question about the LQ9 engine that let go. Was this a stock cam? How much timing did you run?

I'm working on a similar setup, just an lq4 (which I believe the LQ4 & 9 share the same stock cam specs).

I thought the stock valve springs would float under that kind of boost ???
