Default Got in the 11's tonight bolt-ons but this one race with MS4 Camaro

I was in the pits talking to this guy (bad with names) that had an 02 Camaro with 3.73's, no converter, regular radials, a lid, headers with cats, exhaust and the seats removed. Well they had just added a MS4 cam. The car sounded pretty darn good and just so happens I ended up pairing up with him. My car is all 60' and 1/8th so we take off and I put it on him but looking to see where he is and right at the end he like sling shots by me like crazy. I am like damn hope I won LOL
Well I pick up the slip and I ran a 12.1 to his 12.2 but his 1/8th MPH was 91 and mine was 89. His 1/4 MPH was 117 and mine was 112. I was rather shocked that I have been puking my brains out to get 11's bolt-ons and this car was just cam with the stuff up there and if had DR's his was 11's no converter.
He said the MS4 is a 80 HP increase and I kind of believe it. Can't wait to do my cam and stuff now.

I dont know about a 80hp increase when TSP only says 60+ on their website but I bet he pulls like a bitch because of that cam. If you run 11.9's bolt ons when you get a cam you should really haul ***, like 11.5 and under. I dont know the plans for your car but if your racing alot you could go with a TRex, MS4, Polluter, or the Vindicator and a 4400 stall. With that setup you would be knocking on the 10's.

Let's see I was a 1.65 and he was a 2.01. Well they were having a little problem from what they said with street manners with that cam.

I am done with this combo after hitting 11's. I have a ported FAST 92 with 96mm TB, Patriot 2.05/1.60 320 CFM heads and a 224/228 cam I want to add. But I got thinking how much would I be leaving on the table with my cam versus that MS4? I want good street manners which supposedly the 224/228 will give me. So it may not be worth looking at the MS4.

I wouldnt be concerned about going with a bigger cam. Once you start going to track with your h/c set up you will always wonder how much is being left on the table between the 2 cams.

you should look into something like a torquer V3 if you want a bigger cam with some decent street manners

I went back today and bested the 11.9. I went 11.80@114 MPH today

But sadly not going back until the other parts are on. Just think this combo has nothing to offer. I am launching about as hard as possible and it isn't spinning. 60's today was 1.57.

Unless you have an awesome tuner stay away from the ms4...

old setup..
ms4
prcls6 stg1s
ported 9090
410s
4400 stall
full exhaust
weight reduction
7.2@95mph 1.6-1.64 sixty times 2000DA
lifted the tires and then unloaded.. was on stock suspension.. with suspension would have went high 6s...

this setup
custom grind 226 cam
hand ported 317s (dont flow nearly as good as prcls6)
ls6 intake
373s
4000 srall
LTs ORY and a cutout
full weight
7.4@91.5mph 1.52-1.55 sixty times 2400DA
needs a better tune on it and it will pick up just a little bit more..

you dont have to have a big cam to run good times... its not all in the cam its in the entire setup, make sure you match your setup properly and a smaller cam will be right there with the bigger cams..
here is a race with me (with my 226 cam car) and a buddies MS4 car..

I like my plans with the 224/228. I also think it will have good red light to red light snap instead of having to turn R's to go anywhere. I'm stoked!

Thanks!

The converter and 9" are the two nicest things I have added.
