Brainerd Optimist's Opening Night 05.25.2012 .... Test & Tune .... My Best Run Vids
Brainerd Optimist Dragstrip in Ringgold, GA officially opened under new management Friday, May 25th with their first Test & Tune. As some of you know, I am still dialing in my Camaro and, once again, logged a best time and 60'. The only change from my last outing is raising the 2-Step to 4500 from 4000. Next set of changes ... Strange Front DA's (in the mail) & 2-step at 5000.
The results with a DA of 2684 ...
RT ......... 0.540 (on a 0.500 perfect RT)
60' ........ 1.668
1/8 ET ... 7.438
MPH .......92.38
The run via Camcorder ....

Hey Anthony ... this car will dip into the 6's/10's once I get it dialed in. I still have the rear coil over DA's to dial-in ... the last and only adjustment was at SDR (3 to 4 R & 4 to 5 C). If I still can't get traction off the line (on a good leave), I will go to 28" ET Drags. The run in the photos was a pretty good leave at 4500 and, with the 2-Step where it should be (5500), I will be needing those 28's soon.

I believe the MPH's were a little low there. The MPH's are all over the place from track to track .... as you know, 7.6's at anywhere from 99-103 MPH at Paradise (yes, trap speeds are high there) to 7.6-7.7's at 95 MPH / 11.7's at 122 MPH at SDR. I have been taking each track on it's own merits instead of trying to compare them with each other. I figure that 60's and RT's should be pretty accurate no matter the track though.
Plugs are 2 years old and I will be pulling those soon to check them, but it runs well and the clutch is 4 years old with 5,000 street miles on it .... the only trips to the track are since the first of this year ... 23 passes so far. I will be doing a Tick build next year and will be replacing the clutch and adding an SFI bellhousing while in there.

Next weekend is a bike rally in Milledgeville we want to attend, but the 2nd Sunday after that (6/23) we are thinking about a trip to Steele for their Sunday test & tune if interested. We are only able to play every other weekend because my wife's position requires her to be available every other weekend. That is the reason we are not at Commerce this weekend for the GM Nationals.
