Is my SS Slow, Average, Not Bad????
Took the car to the track last night for the first time in two years and im a little disappointed or maybe over thinking it. Ran the 1/8 mile. The car is a 1999 Camaro SS close to stock. Long tube headers, electronic cut-out (open), stock muffler, 3.23 rear gear, 19 inch tall tires, slp airlid, hypertech programmer, A4 with shift kit, other than that the car is bone stock.
Two years ago with a Sumitomo tire my best time was 8.889 @ 83mph with a 60ft of 2.090
Last night I ran several times and my best was a 9.089 @ 81.86mph both of my best times between a few years ago and last night was run on my first run. Only difference now is I am running Nitto 555 tires at the same size. Seems like they werent as good for traction but I dont remember the sumitomos being any different. Both passes were also with a passenger in the car.
Other than that I was a consistent 9.1 on all other runs.
Does this time sound about right for a 99 SS 158,000 on the clock? Is it slower than average, average or not bad??? Fixing to do a bunch of work to the car and just wanted some insight on these times before I do it. I tried looking at other times on here and on using google but couldnt find anything that was pretty close to my set-up.
Thanks for your help guys

Slow.
Go over the car and make sure all the basic maintenance is done. The car does have high miles, so don't expect it to perform like new. Air filter, spark plugs/wires, oil, fuel filter, trans/diff fluid blah blah blah.
Those heavy 19's are also hurting you. Get some stock wheels with drag radials so you can 60' decent. And get a real tune.
All of those added together and I guarantee you will drop a few tenths and add some mph. That mph is low for your mods, are you at a high elevation? What was the DA during the passes? A lot of factors come into play. More info the better...

Maintenance had all recently been done. As for elevation im in tampa florida so below sea level. As for the wheels they are the stock ZR1 wheels 17 inch with nitto 555 tires. As far as DA u have no way of tellin or measurin thats always been a blury area for me too. But this was right after a storm had passed within 10 miles of the track and about 4 hours before. Being right next to the water too and beach.

I think alot of it has to do with either how im launching or the tires. When we pull up to the tree we have no time whatsoever to power brake or get the feel of where we need to be before take off unlike other tracks ive been too. Tires were not very good needless to say of course thats with full air pressure. This weekend imma run again without a passenger, low air pressure in the tires and hopefully a lil more time for staging and post my results. Hope it was jus one of those bad trips to the track. Thanks for your help guys.
