Default Track times with new setup

Got some passes on my new setup, 416 LS3 made 485whp 457wtq. Set the launch controller at 5k, car didn't like it. Spun pretty bad & wheelhopped. Car never wheelhopped on old 5.7 H/C setup that made 400whp 380wtq. Always had to launch it at 5700 rpm or car would bog as the 26x10x15 ET drags hooked really well. So lowered the launch rpm to 4k, still too much! Had to set it at 3500 for the day, made 2 full passes like that. Other than the launch, car runs great! Car weighs 3400 without me in it but I know if I get the 60 foot down to a 1.5 or 1.4 it will be in the 10s. Trying to figure out why its doing this, only thing that makes sense is the car squats more with the extra power & the LCAs are aimed up toward the axle. I was considering putting the stock rear coil springs back in & getting some 28 inch et drags. The car is lowered 1.25 inches. The Bilsteins have 30k miles on them. 9 inch w/ 4.11s. The slicks are almost worn out, running 12 psi. What would you do? I'm car 221.

11.53 @ 120 but in 50 deg. cool air. Would run 11.6-11.7 @ 117-118 in 60-70 deg air like it was Sunday. Forgot to reinstall the SSRA air dam, should do a lil better with that in. Considering having to soft launch it cuz the wheel hop its ok.

Gotcha. Also when this new motor breaks in you should notice a difference as well. I definitely did with mine

You say the LCAs are angled up towards the rear, IMO you need some lca relo brackets to get the LCAs angled down towards the rear. Doing this will kill the wheel hop and you should hook better.

No, parked the LCAs are angled from the car DOWN to the axle. Has a MWC 9 inch with adjustable LCA brackets, mounted at bottom hole. I think cuz its squatting so much it changes the LCA angle.

Ahh, gotcha. Nice times BTW, those LS3s are awesome engines. Some 28s would no doubt be a improvement at your power level.

When I can make a full wot pass & plant the car the trap speed should go up some more. Glad I went with the ls3 over an iron block even though it was a lil more $$. It's funny cuz when I open the hood it looks fairly stock, looks like an ls6 intake. I feel the need for some 28s, for traction & I'm rolling through the 1/4 at 6500 so those should lower the rpms some

I ordered a set of viking DA rear shocks today, after watching a few vids of other cars with these the rear doesn't squat at all! The Bilsteins don't have 30k on them but they've taken a beating with lots of passes since 2010. I'm sure that's why they're not effective anymore. I'd like to get an ARB from MWC but its gonna have to wait. Spent enough getting the car running again.

New boots and the Viking shocks will be a great start! There's no way the MWC 9" rear setup shouyld see wheel hop, so you definitely have some other issues. Do the tires and shocks, I think some good things are coming!

You have more than enough power to go mid to low 10's. All it takes is to carefully dial in the suspension and adjust to what the car will like.
Check out the vids on my sig. The car is a stock bottom end, puny LT1. I run a single adj.QA1's up front w/ 275# springs and a cheap CE 3way shocks/stock springs in the rear. Only making a little over 400rwhp. The car is launching straight as an arrow and hitting 1.42 short times.

Hey flint wrench . Myself and probably 6 or 7 so other f body guys are shooting for a track day later this month / early October at Stanton michigan if you're interested . I live about 10 minutes away from you in davison .

It's an hour and 30 minutes and about 200x better track than that **** hole lapeer .. good luck hooking up at that dump with a high hp six speed.

Also fwiw lapeers eighth mile times and trap are good but there quarters messed up.

I have ran my car at 5 different tracks this year and my car is stupid consistent . Lapeer is about 3 mph fast at the quarter but there eighth mile is on

Interesting! Never been to Stanton but Lapeers 1/4 mph seems to be consistant with both Milan and Ubly from what I've experienced

Ya weird . I've ran at milan ubly Stanton and bowling Green and lapeer this year

Car sixty footed within two hundredths at all the tracks. DA within 400 of each other . My first runs of the year I was dialing in the afr at lapeer . When I finally got it squared away at ubly . The car was running 3 tenths faster at all the other tracks but was a little over 1 mph slower . All the same sixties . I might go out there this fall to see if I can get it to go 3 mph More like I expect it to

We took my buddy Bryans 66 chevelle to lapeer on a Saturday and ran some 10.80s at 126 all with a 1.55 to 1.57 sixty .

Next day at milan with same air car was going 10.90s at 122 123. Sixty were the same .

Lots of older guys that I've talked to out at lapeer say the same **** . I don't think the et is that far off but the mph is fast

I've been to milan & mid Michigan. Its been a few years but I plan on making it to milan no et once this year. Well aware of the outstanding track prep at both of them tracks in comparison to Lapeer. I like Lapeer cuz it close, they keep it open til it snows which is late November & I have a good time there. I would like to run at mid Michigan also. I know last TNT is usually October 20th. It's a real good possibility I can meet up for a track rental day there as long as its not during the week.

Good stuff man ill pm you.

If your looking to get any decent amount of runs in at milan don't go to a no et.

Was there a couple weeks ago at a no et.. I made 3 passes in 9 hours . It's a joke. They run the grudge cars 1 at a time and all you end up doing is sitting .

BTDT, one of the reasons why I don't like Milan. Too many cars. That's why I haven't had my car there since 2011 but I do wanna make a no et event this year. I have been to a no et & could hotlap the car, I know that's rare! This weekend theyre doing a no et but I doubt I'll have my shocks & new slicks & its supposed to rain too! That's what I like about going to Stanton, awesome track & not nearly as busy. Just hard to make time to drive out there. I was at last TNT in 2012, last time I was at Stanton & it was a good time.
