Default TT 68 Camaro update. 9.02@150mph!

Finally made it to the track with the new combo in my Camaro. First pass I launched at 2psi to make sure how the car would react and short shifted at 6k. Went 6.60@111 in the 1/8th and 10.08@142.74 in the quarter with a 1.72 60ft.

Next pass I tried launching a little harder at 7psi and shifted at 7k. Car felt like it started to come up then unloaded the tires. Went a 6.29@114 in the 1/8th with a 1.57 60ft. I let off at the 1/8th so I wouldn't get kicked out and called it a day.

I was very happy for only 12 pounds of boost driving it to and from the track 45 miles each way. Going back this Sunday for my license passes and hopefully work on the launch.

Old combo:
461ci Big block Chevy
Dart 325cc aluminum heads
Forged bottom end with 10 to 1 compression

TCI TH 400 trans
4500 rpm TCI converter
9" rear with 4.33 gears
8 point roll bar
3" dual exhaust out the back with Flowmaster mufflers
Race weight 3513
Car was a street car with full interior and ran on pump gas.
This combo ran a best of 10.8 @ 123mph

New combo:
365ci LS engine
Trickflow 225cc heads
Forged bottom end with 9.5 compression
LJMS Stage 2 cam
Holley Dominator EFI
160lb injectors
MF 4303 pump
BTE glide with 1.8 first gear
Yank PY3400 converter
9" rear with 3.50 gears
12 point cage
3.5" exhaust exiting by the rear tires with bullets
Twin Borg Warner S366 turbos
JGS wastegates and blow off valve
Still full interior street car running on E85 now.
Race weight 3404
Running on 13 pounds of boost.

Went back to the track Sunday for my license runs. Last 2 passes were 9.6@145 and 9.5@145. Looked at the log files when I got home and actually touched 13psi on the last run!

I made 7 passes total on Sunday and didn't have to lift the hood once. Man I love turbo cars!!!!

You'll be happy you do. I was all against it, but the first time I pulled it changed my mind. I no longer have to use the foot brake till about 80mph now. And actually have had to use it once when the car got out of shape about 1000 feet ou

Buy a good one. I chose a Stroud and pleased with its non violent opening

Here is the video of my last pass. Hopefully it works.

Launched at 10psi and it peaked at 13. I haven't messed with the launch tuning yet.

I am looking forward to it after those 145mph passes. I still have rear drum brakes and it was scary as hell trying to get stopped for the second turn on our track. I am going to upgrade to rear disc also when I change the rear.

Thank you for the advice. I looked into the Stroud chutes. Looks like for my weight and speed the 430 works for me. Going to get that one.

How do you have yours set up to release? Spring launcher, air launcher or some other method?

I was a die hard BBC fan all my life. I fell in love with the LS design and potential way back in 98 and haven't looked back since.

Sometimes women just don't understand wanting to go fast. Luckily my wife has a need for speed like me even though she won't let me step on it anymore when she is in the car.

Thank you!

Yes, mine has a lead foot also...But my Camaro is too much for her with manual steering, full spool, and such. Nothing like the "ease" of a new car Keeps her out.

So this season has been nothing but fuel and spark issues. Finally starting to get things figured out but clogged the injectors AGAIN! Added a 10 micron filter in front. I thought a 100 micron pre and 40 micron post would be ok. WRONG!

Made (3) passes all 9.0, but car mph was slowing down every pass and breaking up going down the track so I stopped. 60's are better. All low 1.3's with the new PTC converter but still some work to do. Trying to get back next week with the new filter and clean injectors for my 8 second pass.

Well I ended the season with a best pass of 1.31 60' 9.02@150mph. Only clean passes were on wastegates only with C02 turned off. I was hoping to get a clean pass before I took it apart for upgrades but it wasn't in the cards. After I tore car down and sold parts a member here mentioned he had the same symptoms and after checking some logs noticed my PID settings were most likely the issue. Dome pressure was all over the place. I guess we will find out next year!
