I may have worded my post poorly but I'm saying you want your 4l60e overfilled a bit. Overfill it about 1/4 in. over the full line as opposed to in-between the full and low line on the dipstick.
Overfilling by half a court to a full quart prevents fluid starvation to the 3-4 clutch pack at wot in the 4l60e.

Yes on the overfill slightly.
the other thing that may be affecting you and I cant properly describe the mechanics of it is to leave in overdrive and let the car shift itself, manually shifting it sends additional fluid somewhere causing a lack of fluid where you need it. Hopefully someone with a better grasp on the specifics sees this and can give a better explanation.

When in D3 the over run clutches are only applied during the 2-3 shift when fluid is critical for the 3-4 clutch pack.
Problem can be solved by adding the sonnax 2-3 shift valve which when D3 is selected it will keep the overrun clutches on 1-3 and won't rob anything during the 2-3 shift.
With the sonnax 2-3 shift valve keeping the over runs on when in D3 threw all gears it also helps support the forward sprag assembly.

Surprised that overfilling anything is good.
On my Fords, if the trans is over the line at all, I will find a bubble or two on the stick when it's really hot. Bubbles = foaming, which is not good for trans fluid.
