Got the intake manifold back off, looked at the grounds on the back side of the head. They look to in "good" condition. Pulled the cam sensor back out and it looks like the cam was touching the sensor. May try a different one.

Threw a new acdelco cam sensor and cleaned the grounds. No more cam code! factory tach works and the car starts much easier now.

3 way adjustable rear drag shocks installed
Line lock installed
New front calipers, rotors and pads installed.
Have to finish welding up the subframe connectors.

Ended up picking up some rear wheels and slicks. To good of a deal to pass up. Stall is next on the list, if weather holds this weekend, i'll run the car since it doesnt have any check engine lights any more, see if it made a difference.

Thats the game plan. I think i have got the best I can get out of her with stock converter and stock motor. Going to run it on slicks tonight and give it a whirl.
Ill get a 4000 stall in there and try to get a cam by the end of august. Shooting for low 11's by the end of the season on motor.

Heads/ intake/ cam, stall, ford 9, slicks.
Not necessarily in that particular order.
Being a little optimistic. would be ok with a mid 11's on motor.

I'm interested to see what the car will run today. My front calipers kept sticking and when I changed them couldnt even get them to separate. had to pull whole rotor caliper and everything off. Hoping less resistance and less weight can get me a better time than 12.7. Only engine mods are long tubes and slp lid.

goes without saying but take out the spare tire, jack out of the back right side. also take out the rear seats/seatbelts and should net a good chunk of easy weight reduction for an hour of work.

Already have from behind front seat back gutted. No back seats or passenger seat. No rear carpet or plastics or spare or jack. A/c all gutted.

Yeah its cheap, all my turbo imports dont have any torque so this is new. lol If i dont get where I want to be on motor alone, then I will just fab up some manifolds and boost it. I have enough crap around here to piece together a very solid turbo kit.

well ran it again last friday on the slicks. Stock converter was not enough, felt real sluggish when i left off the foot brake. took a second to get it into power band. I need a stall but I know i will go th400 so i may wait until i get that swap ready so I dont have to buy two stall converters.

Thoughts?

If it's just a track car and not something you plan to daily drive then I'd say th400. You'll have some work to do with tuning and that sort of thing, but you have the transbrake option, and they're strong.

It's a give and take I think, so you just have to identify what it is you want and then choose what suits that goal the best.

^^^ Thank you for the info. The car is going to be a track car, I was thinking th400 instead of powerglide in case I want to cruise it to cars and coffee every now and then. I will probably do it all at once with the rear end, towards the end of the year.

Your car is running very well for what is done to it. If your plan on a serious build a turbo 400 and 9 inch is the way to go imo.

It ran like crap, paint looks like complete dog sh*t, had check engine lights, tach didnt work, vats bypass wiring looked like a mess. Plus i think he just wanted to get rid of it.

The plan is to go th400 and ford 9inch. Will probably run on the motor and throw a top end kit at it(cam, springs, intake, etc) and see how it does. Probably spray it with a little bit.

If I'm not happy with it, ill fab up a turbo kit this winter.

They have a no prep event toward the end of next month I am thinking about getting the car ready for. I will need alot better time to compete.
